DNT tag

I know this DNT tag is very controversial with many Sythe members, but why are donation amounts hidden? I mean, they are still a donator to Sythe just as much as anybody else, so why shouldn't they be able to showcase their donation? Whether it be $5 or $50,000.

I know there's a false sense of security with donators. If somebody is a big donator, they're often trusted, but if somebody has donated $500 and have a DNT tag, why would somebody in their right mind trust them or trade with them, I don't understand. I mean, not many people trust 'Trade with caution' so why would you trust 'Do not trade'? Same goes with the user title.. That person has donated to Sythe, to help maintain and run the website. Whether they deserve to be back or not, they have still donated and still should receive the same perks as anybody else.

If staff believe somebody who returns WILL attempt to trade, or anybody gets caught trading, they should be re-banned indefinitely until a successful pardon is completed, so therefore being able to showcase donation amounts and receiving the donation perks shouldn't matter?

When you have the banned tag your donator rank doesn't display either.

The false sense of security you mentioned is exactly why it is hidden just like every other rank such as ex-mod. In addition, multiple people in the past have donated to simply scam over and over again because it conveys trust, these same people may be unbanned as well. If you want your donation rank back then refund or pardon, right now provides incentive for people to refund.

 

I personally feel your signature should be removed.

And no don't agree to DNT's having donator, or it's perks. Pardon first and they should get access to it.

 

I refunded.. Why unban somebody if you think they will trade again? If somebody has 1,000+ vouches (E.G Chris) and has DNT tag, surely thats the same as having $500 tag? Both mean the same imo, but the DNT tag means they cannot trade.. So why would anyone trade with them.

 

Have to wait 'x' amount of months. Is that the final straw though in regards to the donation amounts? Will this not be discussed? I know it is a juxtaposition, trust and don't trust, but surely I have a point? I'd like to be a part of the community as I was before, just without the trading capabilities.

Donation rank is nothing... you'll be fine. The only thing I don't like about the way this rank is set up is not being able to VIEW market threads. Right now I have to go incognito if someone links a market thread.

 

You shouldn't be in the market though? The whole point is your account is free to participate in the community but not in the market.
I know you weren't banned for scamming but others who were are a large risk if given the ability to browse threads freely.

 

I'm not in the market but I'm pointing out that unregistered users can view the forum so if someone with a DNT wanted to view the market threads it isn't exactly hard.

 

Yea I see your point, I doubt Sythe will make markets privately viewable. Only way to mitigate this risk is to display the true risk associated with trading these users so the profile can't be used in a scam.
