Where's the option to donate it to Harambe's family and children he left behind when he was brutally murdered?

 

The "pay back other scam victims" thing already happens and is poorly done. I don't understand the logic behind who is supposed to get the money/who gets chosen to get the money.

For example:
I got scammed 40m 07 (unpaid dice debt) here on June 14, 2016: Ganja Scape Unpaid Dice Debt

Aspect pardoned on July 2 and had to repay victims unrelated to his scams. He repayed 4 high profile community members that were scammed, when there were TONS of other people that were scammed for similar amounts before them:

There isn't going to be a proper way to implement paying back scam victims unrelated to those scams.

 

I've felt the same way about this ngl. Scam victims would be the best option but not as it's currently done, unfortunately there wasn't an option for this. I've also seen mods not really keep track of what's been repaid to who etc. as i've seen the same victims/scam reports linked to multiple pardons with intention of being repaid in place of the original victim, meaning certain lucky scam victims could be getting repaid by multiple scammers because staff aren't keeping track. This issue, those you've outlined, and tons more i've noticed are all standing issues with the idea, but I still believe using the money to refund scam victims is the best alternative if it's actually managed properly and not like it is currently.

 

Looks like a lot of long messages and people wanting this scam repayment thing. As long as it is implemented in a secure manner... I feel like gambling victims shouldn't be repaid or something like that.

Regardless, way better than the whole "eh, you tried... get back in there and scam again!"

 

I really like this idea as well. Giving money to other more recent scam victims con volutes the whole process should their scammer come forward and want to make things right themselves.

 

It can become quite a mess. If someone repays a scam victim of someone else and that person returns to pardon, but their scam victim was already repaid (and record was taken of it), who do they repay?

Being let off the hook completely is ridiculous, as it devalues the site as a whole and gives people a get out of jail free card if they wait X amount of time.

While making a donation to the site seems like a viable option, you don't want the site profiting off of scams that happen and it affects the reputation of the site as well.

Paying off a debt(s) by giving the money to the CDT/PR/TC teams for event funding is similar to the above, as the community would be profiting off the scams that occur.

In some countries, a court will order proceeds of a crime to a public charity if nobody can be found to give it back to. There are some which will use the remainder for law enforcement purposes, but that is only after the property and proceeds are used to repay victims of crime.

For all the reasons above, I think donating the money to a public charity is best. It might be possible to donate the money directly to Sythe as well, and the community choose every 6 months (or whenever) which charity the proceeds will go to.

 

Wouldn't they just get the money eventually through other uses refunding random scam victims. People don't have reassurance that they'll ever be refunded for a scam, but the system we have gives them a chance.

More scams happen than pardons and people shouldn't be sitting around waiting to be randomly chosen. I was scammed for an account back in 2010 or something which I was about to sell for $1,600. I met the person IRL and had the money in my hand, but the second recovery test failed. The account was recovered and Sythe user banned. I don't ever expect to receive any sort of compensation for this scam due to how long ago it was and I'm fairly certain only a select few people know about this. I'm not trying to whine or complain about what happened, but simply put there will be a very small percentage of (other) scam victims refunded (partially? fully?) by this system and it doesn't make it fair for everyone.

 

I just feel that because so so many people are coming to sythe and getting scammed then leaving we need something like this, because in the of chance they do get a rf from a "random rf selection", that's a potential person who's gonna stay with the site. Sorry about your situation seems like it was a real shit one, but I'm sure if you ever got something towards that scam you'd be sincerely happy that we had this system in place? Yeah ik we can't help everyone but that's not to say don't help those we can.

 

I don't think people are going to stick around on the off-chance they might get a refund for being scammed, lol. And it's been so long that I wouldn't mind if the money went the a public charity. I've tried to give my entire life and hope I'll be able to support a charity on a regular basis in time after completing College. While it might not seem practical, we all have our own decisions to make.

 

I don't really mind so long as they pay the amount back to someone who isn't a shithead tbh.

 

Don't worry I'm sure not alot of money will come from this. I've seen more people with DNT trying to trade than people trying to pay back their scam victims.

 

you're right tbh. i've been trying to scam for the last 3 hours but it sucks because i have to logout to view the trading sections to get victims' skype info. it's a pain in the ass and has made scamming frustrating.

 

you should make a new rank for people who get scammed by dnt users. title it "highly retarded"

 

three short buses or three chromosomes, whichever. these are the ideas that will ignite sythe into the golden ages. no more tagging dnt users with derogatory titles. start tagging victims who trade with dnt users instead. #highlyretarded

 

How about a Sythe trust & users / the community can apply to grants? i.e. recent tragedy in country X, $100 donated from the fund. How much $ are we talking here?
