Please remove this section, it's destroying gaming.

This game does not deserve a section on Sythe. It doesn't deserve the $60 of anyone.

Games like NMS and The Division are what is ruining gaming. They're what makes companies believe cod-iphone type releases are acceptable.

The reason people keep going to old games for "nostalgia" is because those games really were better. No TES game has come anywhere near Morrowind. They've just recieved graphical updates, UI dumbass-proof menus and pointers to every objective, removing any choices from the RPG elements.

These new games aren't breaking through anything. They're just pathetic. Re-skinned nonsense charging people $60 because we keep letting them get away with it.

No Man's Sky refuses to deliver on promises that came with the game release, and is simply an indie-studio's attempt to rip $60 out of the wallets of gamers, and it's working.

The devs lied about features, the PC version is extremely buggy on a 980ti, and the game is "beatable" in a few hours.

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS, After around 4 hours of main "storyline" progression you will NOT meet unique content, only recolours. There is an "atlas" line, but it is just a very, very shiny way to repeat the same content. You'll be under the impression you're making progress toward a "goal," but it's misleading. At the VERY most, the "progrssion" in this game refers to going slightly deeper to the "galactic core" where mats and prices raise. That's it. That's the game. Crafting new weapon mods/speed etc etc caps out at level 4 for everything. Also, nothing can kill you. Even if you're using regular mining laz0rs, you can easily kill every threat with decent gear.

TL;DR
I paid $60 what seems like a year ago for an endless space exploration survival MMO(as advertised.) I did not recieve anything close to this.

Such a waste of potential...

 

Thank you for this review.. I was really looking forward to the game when I saw the trailer a few hours before it's release but I'm glad I didn't buy it. Do you think there is potential for it in the future, though? The concept is fantastic, but it's unfortunate to hear they did not take it to the extent we seemingly all thought they would..

 

Haven't played NMS Yet. The Division on the other hand was complete garbage.

Appreciate the feedback, I'll take your word for this because you've got good reasoning and the same type of gamer mindset I'd have when giving criticism to a game.

 

While most people are unhappy, the game does have people who are quite happy and enjoy playing it. More importantly, the game is (for now) new and popular. Having a section for the game isn't exactly encouraging people to buy the game especially when threads like this exist but it does encourage discussion, which is a good thing.

Personally I've bought 1 pc game in the past 10 years (Overwatch) and I certainly won't be making a second exception for this controversially-reviewed game. From what I've heard, it was released far too early

 

The divison was pretty fun. I got like 50 hours of gameplay out of it

 

The entire community hates this game all it does is make the Sythe homepage bigger. Every NMS PC review is shit and console is split 50/50. That's not too great of a wrap sheet. The only people who suggested this section are the shitty PR team members, and they are additionally the only people who have posted. Tell them to just create a skype group/discord channel in their own discord.

 

You should get much more from an MMO (or whatever they call it, you know what I mean.) The only games with acceptable playtimed in the 50 hour range are single player campaigns like The Witcher or Doom, citing other contemporary AAA titles.

 

I mean for $60, for 50 hours. That's barely more than 1$/hour for entertainment. That's pretty damn good

 

Just because it loosk good in comparison to going out to the movies doesn't make it acceptable by gaming standards.

Subscription mmo's like WoW at $15/mo are played an average of 4hrs/day so 120/month so 12.5 cents per hour.

RPG's gain typically 300+ hours of story time. Morrowind was one of the first "rpg's" of its kind, and boasted a 200 hour story that games can't even meet anymore.

The problem with The Division is it wasn't supposed to be the shit pile that was released, and it could have been so much better.

 

I agree its not worth $60, but i think its ok, prob a $15 game as of now. Planets are really repetitive , I just still play it cause I have a sliver of hope that things could be different as we progress closer to the center. But idk :/ , so far planets are pretty much the same

The active fan-base for this game would fit in the "Gaming General" section. I doubt this section will average more than a couple posts a day, seems a little unnecessary to have an entire section dedicated to it.

 

After taking a good look at what some of the reviews have been I definitely won't buy the game.

 

My favorite part is that this game is deemed to be multiplayer. Someone randomly found their friend or player in the game, met up on the same world and they could not see eachother..... completely stupid.

 

Honestly seems like a game that is literally just missing features. The potential is huge, I was almost certain I was going to buy it, glad I didn't. If this game came out in 6 months (and went into alpha or beta now), with the community feedback, it would've been so much better.

 

If there's no meaningful multiplayer interactivity, the game isn't just missing features, it's missing a purpose. PvP and trade is what makes games with much less scope much more competitive and replayable (CS:GO, RS07). There are plenty of games that deliver a one-way interaction where you progress through a tutorial, then a storyline, then there's a quasi-endpoint where the game repeats itself. The size of the map isn't relevant in NMS because there's nothing out there. It looks like the game is somewhere between Fallout and Minecraft, and picked up none of the desirable characteristics of either game.

 

Yeah I agree, if there was multiplayer, even if the planets are all similar, it'll be more fun pvping or teaming up to take on big ships and such

 

^^ i like that idea, NMS is definitely not worth the money, this game was hyped up too much and let everyone down on release.
