Tell the CDT What To Do

This thread will be temporary and not permanent, however, the CDT will soon be making changes to several aspects of its functionalities; an overhaul would be a better term for what will be happening. That is why this thread is separate from the already existing CDT Feedback & Suggestions Thread. This is in response to recent events that have taken place in the community, acknowledging the possible flaws in a team and attempting to fix them.

However, this is our attempt of asking the community specifically what you think are the current problems/benefits of the team, what is working/what isn't working, how can we fix it, what do you want to see more of/less of from the team, and just your general opinions on the CDT.

This will not be a regular feedback thread. You can go all out, no holds barred. If you don't like the CDT at all, say it like it is; you will not be infracted for cursing or speaking your mind as long as you can keep logical and rational boundaries. If you want to make love to a CDT member and really like specific things the team has been doing, tell us! We want to hear what you have got to say, because we are working for the community.

Consider this an open discussion that will not be locked unless things get way out of hand, which I don't expect to happen. Try and be constructive in your criticisms or praises.

If for whatever reason you want to vent your frustrations in a different manner with absolutely no rules, you can find a location for that here: Tell the CDT what to do 2.0 , however do not expect serious responses/discussion or any at all from CDT members, there are no rules in the Spam Forum. We truly are trying our hardest to do what is best for the community, so please bear with us.

Expect an update to the CDT following this thread and your suggestions relatively quickly.

because all it's going to do is make people not want to actually give you any feedback.

 

Tell the CDT what to do 2.0

 

Good:

• Consistent. Alot of events out and CDT does well in always following through with events at same time every year
• Most CDT users clearly care about the community
• Raised $6836.15 for Jon's family. Seriously even with the one specific issue with one member, great fucking job guys, You don't deserve to feel belittled or berated as a group because of a singles actions. Huge Shoutout to Fridayy and the community.
• Doing stuff other than events, Updating various stickies around the forum, (Sythe FAQ and newcomer/introduction tutorial are things that come to mind), SQ's, Helping out the PR/TCT with what we have had so far.

Opportunities to improve:

• Better communication within the team itself.
• Have the archived applications posted with individual member reasoning.
• Encourage regular users to run events outside of the CDT and help them out with that. (more than what I've seen)
• Have policies and procedures in place, so there's less discussion about the same thing over and over again

 

Also 3 community teams need one forum with 3 sub sections where each team can view ALL but only post in their home section.

It's already been attempted multiple times today, they won't have it.

 

I believe you need more transparency with every event you organize. Jon's donation raffle for his family was something awesome, but it let some bittersweet taste aftermath, with the recent events. Just have things way more organized and open to the public. Other than that. you guys are very polite, charismatic and have nice ideas and events, cant really complain.

We'd love to hear. Or if you have any suggestions about what to do to make it better.

 

I'd like to see the CDT figure out a way to try to balance voting between the CDT members and community.

I was thinking something along the lines of OMM, where users could apply in a section to be a CDT member, and say that user has to get 5 community vouches,3 CDT member vouches & 1 staff vouch or something like that(just example #'s) to be accepted into the CDT, this should help prevent any bias and ensure the proper community based people are getting into the CDT.


I really hate how CDT members are chosen by the other CDT members, I think that power needs split, I think adapting something similair to OMM applications would split that power effectively if you need X amount of community support(Non-staff & Non-CDT members), X amount of CDT support(CDT members), and X amount of staff support(staff) to get in.

It'd be fairly simple to balance exact #'s to form a triangle of equal powers so the community has influence on voting, CDT members have influence, and staff have influence, everybody has their piece of the pie.

Voting would also be public this way to, which I think is the route to take.

But that'd be an interesting concept. I think the leader elections of the CDT should be public though. The community chooses who they want as the CDT leader.

 

Leader is just a glorified CDT member don't you think though?(no offence to any leader I promise)

I mean they don't really have any real power other CDT members don't then choosing what to focus on, I'm okay with CDT leader being elected similar to how I described above but I think the main "bulk" of the issue is the members voting, not the leaders.

I personally would like to see a requirement where u need say, 5 community supports, 3 CDT supports, and 2 staff supports to get onto CDT, then we can have it where when a leader spot is open whoever in the CDT wants to apply for leader can make a [CDT LEADER] Application and that has a timeframe of say 7 days to get 20 community supports, 10 CDT supports and 5 Staff supports, if multiple applications meet the goal at the end of 7 days the one with the most support(example:22 community supports, 10 cdt supports, 5 staff supports vs 20 community supports, 10 cdt supports, 5 staff supports), wins.

So the most liked one by the community/cdt/staff will become the leader in case theres multiple that meet the REQ.

Thoughts?

 

The leaders are the ones responsible for making sure things get done. Think of it like this. The president doesn't physically do much, but he makes the calls and holds people accountable and keeps them on task. Basically a manager, somewhat.

There is a current complaint that staff control the CDT. Involving staff to a critical part of the initiation process will only further that complaint, so I don't think that's the right way to go. As for the support system, I think that'll quickly turn into getting all of your friends to post support, then getting random people to post support through exchanging favors (if you're not blessed with x amount of people who would support you naturally). I don't think the current voting system is exactly the best, but until a better option is made known, it's the method that will be I suppose.

 

As I said all I can do is throw ideas out :shrug: gotta go to bed but I'd like to hear other systems to if anyone has thought one up.

I just want to get the voting out of the hands of the CDT members & staff, I'm okay with you guys retaining a decent amount of power but I want that power balanced in some form by the community.

If that goal is accomplished, I think the main grievance atm will be settled.

Are you suggesting we have more threads to query what the community thinks?
Or do you want threads of events to be public after the event has finished? Or are you wanting the CDT section to be public itself?

If you'd like to read through this: Make all CDT discussions public record and give us a shout on what maybe you want to see become transparent, and open to the public.

We have been speaking about making Applications possibly public, the previous archived events.

The one reason why certain present events we wouldn't be able to released publicly is because it would ruin the event/game itself. There may be personal or delicate information in CDT which shouldn't be public knowledge - not instantly either way.

 

Alright, gonna read this one trough and give my opinion in a few moments. You have a point on saying that some events cannot be public because it would ruin the event itself. I was just talking about Jon's Raffle which it was an event indeed in special circumstances, even thought everything ended well I believe.

 

Alright I thought this one trough. IMO I'm going to say this for you to be aware, I'm pretty new, and I dont know how everything works in here, or has worked in the past, I'm pretty happy with the CDT but I never been on a forum before, so my opinion it's not going to be the best, or the most needed.

Answering this: "Are you suggesting we have more threads to query what the community thinks?" dont make it so everyone can suggest anything, not everyone has something useful, nice or awesome to submit/say, and you would lose time reading trough the trash until you find a good suggestion, or none. Rather you show publicly, some "drafts" or base ideas, on where people can vote. what will this accomplish? Making the people have some involvement and control on the community and besides that, you will get most suggestions adapted on your drafts, on your ideas, and on what you think you want to do which it would make for easier to adapt any event you have in mind, you'll have an easier approach on people.

Now, regarding public records etc, or this whole idea that everything needs to be public. this is a 50/50. You need to have as you say, your private work space, for ideas, for discussions between you. It's a matter of trust, and as we know, this whole sense of insecurity comes originated from the Raffle's issues you had, It's an stain on white fabric, but I can be cleaned, It can be transparent. how? Well I guess by showing everyone what are you doing exactly when special circumstances needs it. Why? because simply when you are holding people's money, they want to know it's safe even if it is for a donation, they want to know where it went.

@Rael very appreciative of you taking the time to look through and collate your opinions, all and any opinions are valid. You are apart of the community and we want to know exactly what the community thinks, whether directly involved or just from a viewing aspect.
