Spam Forum Ranks

The Spam Forum is its own government with its own people. Nothing said there should really be taken out of it. Spam, flaming, and memes are allowed there and they don't give post count. People have different personalities there and it's a place I like to call home.

That's all a preface for my suggestion: allowing a custom rank for users in the spam forum with over 1,000 posts there. This rank would only be displayed in the spam forum (the whole suggestion is based off the idea that this can be coded, rip if it can't). It would be pretty nice to see that happen.

Basically it would be a fun rank that can be designed with any 3 icons a user wants and any text. Obviously cannot imitate staff and already existing ranks. Another possibility is making the center icon a specific type of icon to distinguish it from other fun ranks and classify it as a "Spam Forum Rank"

I believe the people of the Spam Forum deserve this. My mom agrees.

It's not supposed to be exclusive, that's why it's only available in the Spam Forum.

I'd support this too but it seems like a lot of work for a bit of SF fun and every funrank would need to get approved like UT's so thats extra work for staff but hey thats life tough shit

Anyway this sounds like an excuse for fun ranks which while i'm normally down, custom fun ranks that often sounds like a pain in the ass. Version w/o custom text and images I can support + make a different requirement. 1,000 posts isn't that hard to get and it'll likely just lead to flooding of the sf by people who do not have it.

Change the requirement to x amount of years, just have it given out randomly, or just something that is not post count.

 

Oh yeah also the custom rank thing would be highly unlikely. It would probably have to be one rank for everyone if this were to actually happen

 

I mean, the spam forum is meant for spam. That's why it is exclusively shown in the SF and no where else. It's supposed to be like a give back to the community. It's not supposed to be exclusive.

It seems like a common disagreement is that it would be too hard to implement. That just means that whoever implementing it wouldn't want to take the time to work on it, which I think is an unfair argument. Let's assume that whoever has to work on it cares about the community and the most active forum on the site.

 

Make it 10,000 spam forum posts and you got my support.

Yeah, meant for spam and posts that are generally unacceptable in other sections; however, flooding is incredibly annoying and is not allowed in the spam forum which I would argue would be perpetuated by a 1,000 post fun rank.

The exclusivity comes with a 1,000 posts?.. Simply suggesting changing the method of exclusivity. Hell, I only have 1,100 posts in the spam forum since my posts pre-deletion are not counted (probably at least 1500+ considering I had over 200 threads). If you have 1,000+ posts in the spam forum, you are likely in the higher echelon of spam forum users and the rank is still exclusive.

Wouldn't take time to work on customizing possibly dozens of ranks for individuals because they post in a section meant for fuckery. I would hardly consider it unfair, rather, the individuals who would likely be responsible have better things to do with their time. Only admins have the ability to assign ranks + they have to load them onto the system itself. Even if they were not designing them, it's a bit of a pain in the ass to go through for a fun rank that is meant for the spam forum. So yeah, standardized fun rank.

 

How about posting in the SF gives you a 0.001% chance of getting one?

I highly doubt people would break the rules to try and earn it. Also, the ranks aren't being customized, I think you misunderstood the suggestion; it's like a UT, the person who wants it makes it themselves then it is just approved by an admin. I also wouldn't consider a pain in the ass even if it's meant just for the spam forum considering it's the most active community section on the site.

Did you miss the part about it being only shown in the SF? Where is the trust there? And what is the point of fun ranks other than looking cool? Or did you just want to post something negative because you've got nothing better to do.
