there is no error popup. It looks like it loads up but nothing happens afterwards.

 

Go to the .mincraft folder > logs and copy and paste the "latest" file.

If I bought minecraft and played would people be able to destroy my stuff in the creative mode?

This is basically like survival-ish. I'll see if we can also add back in the monsters, it'll make it interesting. You can pretty much do everything else like survival though, for now. We don't want to break everyone apart. We already have a creative for people who like that and Pixelmon for survival-ish. I'll see what we can do - we did originally have a survival server with no Pokemon but this seemed to be a more popular request.

Well, I did increase launcher to 5GB in the tutorial, but you do need 64-bit to run it any higher. Does it not already give an error if you try to raise it otherwise? Don't think it's necessary to add another step to OP, maybe just a little note at the bottom.

I tried running it with 2GB, and I had problems. I changed it to 5GB and I'm always good launching it.

Theoretically, yes, but let's hope people aren't dicks. We could start whitelisting servers to just people who post here if we run into issues.

Follow the directions in the OP, there's animated webm's that you have to press play on. You need to place the file in the proper folder, not run it.
