In this thread I will document how my progress is going in the game.

Got back from the park a few hours ago. Yesterday's catches were pretty disappointing (didn't even see a pokemon higher CP than my 178 Golbat yesterday). Today was a lot better. I currently have 2 phones (an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 5c). I need to get a sim to play with data on my 5c and unfortunately the 4s is very unreliable. It almost always crashes the app when I try to catch a pokemon. If it actually gets to the screen where you throw pokeballs without crashing, throwing pokeballs is really hard because at this point the game will lag like crazy. I usually only count on the iPhone 4s to rack up distance to hatch my eggs but today I noticed a Jynx so I wanted to try to go for it. It happened to be in a convenient store which was awkward because I was the only person in there at 3am and the clerk was old and confused at what I was doing. I put a raspberry down (because the prior day a Jynx got away and I didn't want that to happen again). After 10 misses because of game lag I finally landed but the animation caused my game to crash. I had to wait until I got to the park to see if I had actually caught her (I use my 5c at the park to play since the whole park has wifi). I was happy to see that I did catch her.

I usually catch pokemon while I jog around the park track. On my way to the track I caught a Tauros which was pretty cool even though he was low CP because he had gotten away on me before. Other new additions to my squad include:

- Venonat (might have been hatched)
- Jigglypuff
- Slowpoke (hatched)
- Oddish

I tried to take down the gym in the park since it only had 1 level 900 pokemon in there but I failed. Probably could have done it if I had 1 more 300 CP pokemon. I have yet to accomplish anything with gyms..

I've been trying to track pikachu and bulbasaur for the past 2 days at the park but never manage to locate them even though they are in the first slot on my tracker. I feel like they are either in the park swimming pool or tennis courts which I can't get to. Going swimming with girlfriend at the park today so i'm going to check if anything is there. I am going to try to get my 5c working today with data so I can play outside of the park with a reliable phone.

Right before I got to the park I caught a 532 Hypno which is now my best pokemon. I did not stay at the park that long tonight. I hatched a Goldeen. Other then these 2 new pokemon nothing spectacular happened. On my way back from the park I decided to try the data on my crappy 4s phone to take over a gym because I noticed there was only 1 900 CP pokemon in it. When I got there and tried opening the gym crashed my app so I gave up. Thirty seconds later some guy came to claim it for blue (this was at 4am) and we chatted for a bit.

I came home for a bit after that and then went to the convenient store about an hour later down the street. There is another park by the convenient store with wifi so I went there and got a bunch of eggexcutes (or whatever they are called) and a krabby. These are new additions to my squad so I am happy with that. I actually caught 3 eggexcutes at this small park in the span of 3 minutes. Literally a few catches away from level 10...

You've received a like for effort.

 

Best advice I can give is don't use any stardust until you're atleast 20, but ideally 25+.

Try farming your levels using Lucky eggs and staying situated within a spot where theres:

1. Lots of people (20-30)
2. 3-4 Pokestops with Lures

I did the above in a suburban street and I was averaging about 40k xp/hour. You'll get higher CP pokemon from 18 onwards which are worth something.

 

Thanks for the tip. Yeah haven't used any stardust yet. Still have to find a place with constant lures on pokestops with wifi because I still don't have any data to play :'(

 

Nothing really spectacular happened lately. Mostly just catching the same pokemon because i'm going to the same park every day. I have seen some different pokemon around my apartment though (even a snorlax) so maybe when I get data I can venture out and track those.

Catch that Snorlax around your apartment, supposedly he's on the rarest tier of Pokemon you can find in the wild (save legendaries.)

 

Yeah I seen in a guide that he is one of the rarer ones #feelsbad. At least now I know it is not impossible for him to wander around my apartment.. always next time I guess aha.

 

Keep it up with the progress. Are you going to be touching emulators/bots at all? They can help out tremendously but in all honesty, they do take away the fun from the game.

 

I won't be touching any cheats. I think it completely takes the fun out of the game (to me the fun comes from walking and locating pokemon). When I get bored of the game I might start cheating though to profit IRL lol

Pretty decent for someone who doesn't bot. Well done mate, keep it up.

And yeah, what someone else said above. Don't evolve or power up your Pokemon until your lvl 20+.

 

Catch all pokemon until you have enough and evolve all the common pokemon with a lucky egg, should give you a very nice xp boost

 

Yeah that is what I ended up doing a few hours ago. I did a bit over 20 evolves which got me from the start of level 16 to halfway through 17. Not going to lie... it really sucks having a bat as my highest CP pokemon lol. All pokemon are at natural CP. I don't plan on powering anything up until much later since i'll most likely catch a better version in the meantime.
