Memes / user submitted text to be cycled through near the logo

So you're talking about like what's happening right now, with the Pokemon stuff? I think it's kick-ass. Good to see the site opening up to the community.

 

Not sure exactly how it would work but change is always good. Would be nice to see more changed logos than just the seasonal holiday changes

I like the idea very much however I wouldn't make this automated at all, it could be abused very easily.

 

Not sure. I think gold sellers will spam their logo/text or something, which might be a problem. Or just trolls in general that post stupid stuff. If the submitted stuff needed approval then it should be ok.

 

That actually sounds great. It'll definitely spur activity within Off-Topic and other general community or game threads. Makes the site seem friendlier to the community and more connected.

I have to strongly disagree. I think the whole point of it is to be user driven, so that's why Sythe used "memes" in the title of the thread. I don't think there's such thing as "abuse", just nice memes.

What about not automated but monitored, same principle as user titles? You can submit them yourself but they need to be approved first.

 

For best "security" measures, there can be a pool of logos from which the system will choose to randomly display at different intervals. In order for a logo to be considered to be displayed on the forums and in that pool, it has to be approved by an admin. Seems like the best solution.

 

They're not mutually exclusive, that would be pretty neat too, but I would definitely want to see the Sythe logo thing go through too.

 

Just a possibility. I was building off of your suggestion. If you can make it so that visiting the home page of just sythe.org would always show the original logo (except during times of seasonal ones in which those would be considered the original), and then when browsing the forums it cycles through different logos every X amount of pages visited, or even just every page is a different logo.

 

Seems to be a good idea @Sythe I support it because it does add a little flavor to the site and allows UCC to be shown

still like the idea. increases participation and whatnot. plus gives users a reason to spend 1 more second on the site each day

 

Like the idea but be careful because if it's automated people might start using it to advertise their business.
