What would you say the strongest pokemon is that you have or seen?

ive seen 1.7k CP pokemon around but im still struggling around the 300-400 mark on L8..

Also, my main attacks only do around 10-12 damage which is pretty pathetic.

Does anyone know a gyrados's stats?

^that one was from the beta I believe (at least the post from 9th of july). Strongest I've seen so far was 1.8k, I'm at 450 right now at lvl 9...

Strongest I've actually seen was a CP 1000 Snorlax at a gym in a local park. I actually met the person who owned it, apparently they hatched a CP 600 Snorlax and just used all the candies on it and fought a few gym battles.

An easy way to get a relatively high CP pokemon at levels 8+ is trying to catch a Pidgey that's CP 150+ and evolving that to a Pidgeotto then Pidgeot. That should automatically get it to ~500 CP, and if you use the remainder of your candies you can boost it to God knows how much CP.

There's a few gyms that I can see without leaving my apartment, and one of them currently has a 1200 Snorlax, and the other has a 1100 Vaporeon.

I haven't evolved / powered up many of my pokemon yet but I'm level 10 and nothing that I have at the moment comes close to those CP's lol.

That's the benefit of being able to take 6 Pokemon to fight 1 :p Don't be intimidated by the high levels, especially if you have proper counters. I took out an entire gym with 3 400-500 CP Scythers with a single CP 600 Pidgeot

Oh shit I never even realized that you can use a whole team to take down a gym. For whatever reason I always thought you had to fight solely with the Pokemon you choose to leave at the gym if you win.

ATM Pidgeot's and Vaporeons are dominating my area so I'm going to try my best to find some electric types before I go too ham trying to take some gyms over. At times I wish I started with Pikachu instead of Squirtle but in the end it wouldn't really matter because I'd be stuck with a ~20 cp Pikachu with out any candies to make it stronger.

Yes but gyms can hold a maximum of 6 pokemon AFAIK (I've only seen one with 5) so when you get a group together it's a 6 on 6 battle.
