Pokemon GO discussion thread

So Pokemon GO has been released and I'm having a blast playing it. Even tho it's bound to get me a distracted driving ticket or into an accident or even killed lol jk, but seriously driving to work this morning trying to catch a Rhyhorn all over the damn road lol. I was like k i can't do this all the time while driving like i thought i would ffs.

Anyone else rocking the game? Whats the coolest thing you've caught? Think it's a good/bad idea for a game? Anyone else a huge danger on the road because of it?

So funny dude, literally doing the same thing on the highway and telling myself I cant be doing this all the time or ill wreck. Loving the game right now just wish the servers would hold up for a longer period of time. Last night was solid but ive been having issues today. So far i'm a Lvl 8 with my best catch being a lvl 170 Scyther

 

Nothing like driving past a pokestop and trying to activate before you pass it.... Lmfao

 

This is insane, I've had the game since yesterday and I am yet to be able to capture a single pokemon. It would freeze whenever I encounter one and then servers crash. Servers are shit right now, really disappointed.

 

That's what happens with f2p game when thousands of people are all trying to play and downloading the game. I'm not even available to download it yet

 

Went around my college campus for a few hours and it was absolutely hilarious watching people all out on their phones trying to catch pokemon. I'm really enjoying it for the time being, but I don't know how long this will actually keep my attention for. It's a battery hog and I don't know if it's something I would look at in my day-to-day routines between work, class and research.

 

7News Sydney did a write up recently, asking people not to get arrested attempting to catch pokemon. I haven't downloaded it yet but my mates seem to enjoy it. Walked past work and on the way there were 3 people playing lol

My brother almost got hit by a car trying to cross the street to get to a gym, car literally had to swerve so he didn't get hit. Can guarantee this will cause accidents. Lmao.

 

I have an iPhone 4 so I fortunately don't have to worry about this. However, I can't play Pokemon GO, so there's that.

It's free so if you're asking whether it's worth the energy cost of tapping your thumb on the screen to download, then yes it is worth it.

 

I hope it comes out for Canada soon. Kind of scared to fake my phone location and download it as another country because they put out a warning saying not to do that. I think this will be a great way for me to get a lot of exercise (randomly walking every day). I plan to study on my phone while capturing pokemon all day lol.

The only problem is I don't have a data plan. Does anyone know how much data this app uses? I don't really want to get unlimited data just to play this game...

 

it destroys your data like roughly .5GB a hour

 

It will grow stale pretty quick unless they add in some features like battling real people on the street who have the option to give away their location via GPS or not.

I've not come across any nice pokemon yet either =( a level 525 Jolteon is my best haha

 

What level are you?

 

11 about to hit 12. I've been farming Pidgeys, Caterpie and Weedle as they all evolve at 12 candy. i evolve them once for the xp and then transfer them.

By doing this you level up fasted and i think the higher level you are the higher level pokemon you encounter
