Seriously this is annoying..

Every 2-3 hours my internet goes out..
Not really though.
I refresh a page and the internet is gone on it.
But live streaming/music on the other tabs are still playing.
But if i refresh those it says no connection.
Aim/msn still work, as long as i stay logged in, if i log out i can't go back in.
I'll still stay connected to RS as long as i dont log out.
I'm afraid this will happen in the middle of a MM.
Help me.

 

Well, it would help if you told us what kind of connection you have (i.e. Wireless, DSL...) and if you can the average date transfer rate (i.e. When i'm downloading something, my average speed is about 350kb/s).

 

sometimes internets have timers when the browser works and doesnt maybe its that

 

I'm using a top of the line linksys router.

 

Wireless internet do that all the time. It usually flushes out the internet and causes you to lose connection. Right click your wireless internet icon on your tray, and hit refresh. That should take care of it.

 

What happens if you change browser?

 

It's the internet in general, so I'm assuming nothing.

This is really something you just need to talk to your IP about.

 

I don't know if it's a ISP thing because it fixes it when i restart my computer.

 

Yeah, slave, just do what i suggested and refresh the connection. That sound fix it, it happens to me all the time.

 

That doesn't work either..

 

What ISP do you have out of curiosity?

 

Could anyone please PLEASE help. It's happening every 30 minutes now. The only solution is for me to restart. Please help me.

 

Alrighty first when you stream things you usually download X percent before it actually starts playing and is cached into memory so even if your not online then you can still play what you have, as for IM's they try to make a connection to the chat server etc etc

Ok first make sure your wireless signal is encrypted WEP is shit to but it simply it will keep super nubs out and thats about it, go with WPA its about as safe as it gets right now in terms of wireless (aside from WPA2 but that requires a firmware update if i remember correctly) also check your physical position in conjunction to your router a lot of walls will cause problems and lastly get into your router and see if you can view how many wireless clients you have on your network because you might be on the receiving end of a man in the middle attack, oh and for MM's just go hardwired to be safest

 

I just got it hardwired so hopefully the problem is fixed.

 

I get this. Like the bottom left it just says stopped. I just wait like 5 mins and it comes back

 

mine does this all the time, my computer is hooked up with a wireless card, that feeds off my moms comp with the router, every 3-4 hours ill be on rs and it will disconnect and reconnect with out me logging out, so it is fast, but annoying as hell.

I had the same problem, sucked ass for playing wow, this is what I did, I've been going fine for a few months, somtimes random DC's late at night, usually when I'm offline though.


1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter" ***DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT COPIED, I REPEAT DO NOT***
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"
18. Hit "Ok"
19. Hit "Ok" again
