2D Ice Troll

First time creating a figure with a pen tool, feedback highly appreciated.
(I understand the shadow is wrong as it does not display the axe).

 

If you draw an outline first before you start pentooling, it will improve the quality by alot.

 

Yeah this was basically just letting the pentool take over and see where it took me. Do you mean draw it up and then put it into Photoshop? Thanks for the feedback

 

Yeah that is what I meant.

 

Looking good though. Some things are just a bit outscaled, such as the axe which is even longer than his legs etc. I don't know much about the pen tool though so I can't get much advice regarding that.

 

You should swap the ax to the other hand. It will look like he is waving it and it wouldn't look as awkward being bigger than his legs.

Yeah I noticed that but I really wanted the axe to stand out, could've easily made it smaller but I liked it thanks for the feedback though, i'll consider making more stuff thats to scale rather than on eye sight.

 

I situated the axe in that hand specifically so create a more built up evil in a sense rather than already swinging it, but yeah placing it in the other hand would remove the awkwardness of the size of it.

Not bad for a first try, would be a good form of practice if you make a whole serie of these kind of characters

I love the style of the work, very simplistic, would love to see some more but with make some actual RS characters , PVP etc
