Guest Interaction

I'm sure many of us have seen the typical "guest" or two that you see looking at your threads every now and again when you go to check up on them. If it is possible, maybe we could add a way to direct/instant message these guests while they are viewing the thread, only possible by the owner of the thread, just to help out with any questions they might have. Tell me what you guys think.

 

You shouldn't be able to interact with guests in that manner, it takes away the anonymity of being a guest/visitor.

 

They can just add you on skype if they have any questions

 

Definite no from me, if guests want info they can either sign up (if they're not banned - if they are, they're not allowed to have an account) or contact you through Skype. Wouldn't you find it annoying if you're just browsing a random forum for something and suddenly 3 people start annoying you if you've got questions, without you even being logged it?
Not only that but it'd also be extremely hard to implement such a system, no support.

 

This pretty much sums up what I'm thinking. Haven't you been on one of those sites where you get bothered by spammy "live chat" messages. That's how I think this would feel like, and that's not something that we need.

Yeah because it does kinda take away the whole point of being a guest.
And they can add you on skype like Gracious said.
Also hard to implement (like Gracious said)

So in short, what Gracious said

 

The guests generally fall into a handful of categories.

People who are banned
People who just stumbled in the site, who may ultimately end up registering
People who are trying to browse anonymously
Crawler bots

Interactions with these "guests" is an unnecessary addition, if they want to interact with you, they can add your Skype or whatever means of contact you use.
