Sythe paper-trading competition

Gauging interest in a paper-trading competition here. We can have a buy in or a sponsor or something depending on interest. Would definitely spur the new guys to try it out and we can all give input as to why we made certain trades and shit. Could be a good learning experience for a lot of people, myself included.

For those who don't know what paper-trading is, it's trading on fake money using the actual stock market's realtime prices and shit

 

I'm interested. Let's see how well people who think they understand the stock market because of the GE and RS flipping can do in the real world.

I've always been interested in this kind of stuff. Would be a good way of getting my feet wet.

Something like this has been done on sythe in the past, I forget what site was used... I'll see if I can track it down for you guys.

 

Cool, that'd be interesting to see. I was thinking ThinkOrSwim or Investopedia. TOS being one we can use all sorts of neat features on but require a bit more of a learning curve to undersetand, or Investopedia where we can only do basic trades but very user-friendly

TOS makes you look like a badass but i forget if you can use it without having $500 (?) in a TDA account. i thought i lost access when i closed my TDA account a while ago but maybe not

 

I'd be down to give it a go. I haven't dabbled in any stock markets and being in NZ I don't have much of a clue of american stocks but it'd be interesting nonetheless.

 

ToS gives you a 90-day free trail if you open a paper-trading account. It's good fun

Cool, thoughts on a prize and time frame for the competition? I think we'll stick to investopedia for the first run through. Much more simple and user-friendly
