Remove the option to turn off PMs

I've been receiving increasing amounts of people posting on my middleman thread, I go to PM them and their PMs are turned off, they leave the chat(because I can't physically PM them) and get the other person to go first after convincing them after a certain amount of time and the person is then scammed.

I don't know how simple it would be to remove this function but quite frankly it's infuriating when they're obviously lying through their teeth and making an idiot out of myself and other middlemans and then going on to scam the other person.

This feature is just unnecessary in my eyes.

 

Support. I don't really see the point of having this enabled so why not.

 

When have people ever complained about spam? If they are being spammed by a certain person they can block/report that person.
There is more need for it to be removed than there is need for it to be there, there are just too many ways for it to be scammed with.

What? How is receiving a PM from your friend annoying or any inconvenience in your life compared to those newcomers who get scammed because of this "trick." You're making up excuses, it should not be there, fullstop.

This function doesn't seem conducive to a safe trading environment.

 

I'm pretty sure that preventing scams is a little bit higher on the priority list than preventing annoying messages from your friends.

 

If its ON initially when you join and you have the option to turn it OFF what's wrong ?

 

There should be no option to turn it off, it isn't necessary.

 

Everything is wrong with it as explained by Ryan, an annoying message from your friend compared to preventing scamming is huge. It is just completely unnecessary.

You could miss a very important pm during a trade. Impostors etc

 

What's wrong? The part where it's (apperently, No comment on if it's actually happening or not) used to scam people.

 

I don't see the point you making here it's apparently used to scam but your unsure? Not a very valid reason to give lol. After seeing the report Chloe made I guess I agree with you(Chloe), I wasn't really sure of the consequences of it being there. But know I see how scams could breed from this. I guess Ill have to suck up and take these spam pm's lel Still could have quoted there post on the mm thread and said yes it's me with convo and skype name? Not sure on the full situation this is based of so myb if you couldn't.

 

How should I know if it's happening or not lol.. I'm going with the info provided by Chloe which you completed missed.

 

Support, seems really no use for this function in my opinion unless someone's really harassing via PM's but in this case you could just report it.

 

I support removing the 'Off' function as well. IF anyone is actually spammed with PM's then block them appropriately. Having a feature built in the website that may encourage scamming is seemingly counter-intuitive.

 

It's actually a very clever way to scam, without a doubt this option should be removed or restricted heavily

 

Support. PM's are the only way to make sure you're having a safe trade, I don't think the option to turn them off should be there at all.
