Buying Vouches?

Hello Helpful sythe members/staff,

I am asking this question on behalf of someone else but I am interested in the answer my self.

Scenario 1:
If I dealt with a customer and lets say I swapped his 100M Rs3 gp to 07 and asked him to vouch and he says no or doesn't want to, would it be allowed to give him an extra 1m so that he can leave a vouch.

Scenario 2:
I swap the customers GP and tell him "I'll give you an extra 1M so that you can leave me a vouch on sythe.org and create an account there if you don't have one"

Scenario 3:
I give customers a discount on swapping gp only if they will leave a vouch.

I don't know if this would be considered as buying vouches or not since a trade was actually successfully complete.

Pretty sure this is allowed considering I have seen some pretty big users giving a discount/extra gold on next purchase to people who left a vouch on their thread. Will look now and edit once I find it

Edit: cba to look more, but it was something like ''2% extra gold on your next purchase if you left us a vouch''.

 

I believe Oakdice explicitly offers discounts to users who agree to vouch and have sythe accounts, so it must be allowed to offer special savings/rates for vouches.

 

Honestly giving discounts, or paying extra on the next swap(to those with sythe accs/those who vouch) goes against the rule of people vouching, because you deserve it. In essence you are buying vouches as you're losing a profit* to have vouches.

Again offering discount/extra money, would be like requiring vouches.

Again the user should not feel obligated to vouch, because you're bribing them.

Am I mistaken?

I'm unsure why this is a acceptable method of practice.( alot of companies do this) I'm unsure of other rules regarding vouches.

 

I think it all depends on wording,

If it's obliged like in your Scenario it is not right.

But what i think if you give them an option to create them a account like this :

Are you INTERESTED in making a sythe account ? We are giving %2 bonus for sythe members.


In this scenario i don't think it is against rules. Because if they tell you no "I'm not interested in making a sythe account" you can't do something about it.

 

@Dobi if you want people to make accounts that should be fine, but bribing them to do so, imo feels wrong.

It still feels like individuals are being obligated to make accounts by offering 2% /discount etc - which is only being offered to require vouches. (Search up definition of obligation)

You are allowed to "buy" a vouch via discounts. When a customer doesn't vouch, however, you can't force a vouch even though you offered a discount.

 

This. Lets say I offer a bonus 1m to Person X to vouch for me, and I give them the 1M, and they don't vouch, I'm entitled to create a report in order to get my 1M back. If not refunded, the user can be banned.

Generally, I'd recommend keeping it off your Sythe thread, and just offering it to the individuals via Skype, Private message or your websites livechat service.

 

You mean we can't do this, because we can't force vouches? Or this can actually happen? we can get people banned if they don't vouch after being paid 1m? (bit confused - hope you mean the first one)

 

Wait can i get this confirmed please, lets say i have 2 rates normal and special (discounted rates) Im allowed to offer discount rates for people who vouch? and of course if they dont end up vouching thats still fine i was told this was not allowed, and that i would have to re-word what i said. Was a ban for me unless i changed it

isn't giving people who vouch a better deal literally buying vouches? i don't see why that should be allowed... you should give them the discounted rate, and then they can decide if they want to vouch. not the other way around.

 

Ok so say like this person buys a name off of me and they vouch for me and becuse they vouched with out me asking them I have them 10% off there next order would that be allowed?

 

When this became an issue with Oakdice, and a few other people, the decision was that you cannot offer better rates/extra gold in exchange for a vouch. Oakdice makes sure he carefully words it that you need to "consider" leaving a vouch in exchange for the better rates, which to this point is allowed.

So no, as it stands you are not allowed to do any of the 3 things @Yasuo

 

yeah, that's fine, because you're offering a rate that's not contingent on them leaving a vouch after a sale. if they want to vouch and get a better rate in the future, that's fine. but you are not allowed to offer discount rates to people if they vouch for your at the same time

 

You may not promise / offer / request vouch for transaction, feel free to leave the vouch / customers leave you vouch without any additional "perks"

So either you're allowed to specifically word it that you are offering or considering to offer discount if you vouch ( rewording it is no different) //dunworry or you are not allowed to give additional perks. //zuzel

Or "out of the kindness of your heart" as an expression offer a discount to those who vouched - not expressly telling them you have this offer.//superfluous ( or be like hey you vouched me last time I'll give you a discount this time - one time offer???)

We'rd prefer if "vouch" and "discount" werent even any close to eachother. You can offer discounts for sythe users, -> ask them to PM you (not post on thread) to confirm they have Sythe account.
They cant be forced to vouch by getting better deals. Deals should be exactly the same with and without vouching or posting on thread.

 

Basically guys, I'll explain the best way to do this in the scenario below.

Scenario:
Customer wishes to swap 10M 07 to RS3, normal rates are 1:5.2. However you say, if you have a sythe account the rate is 1:5.4. You give customer sign-up link in case he doesn't have an account so he has the option to sign up. If he doesn't respond to that then just carry on with the trade at the normal rates. At the end of the trade you can ask the customer to kindly leave you a vouch if he signed up or if he already had a sythe account.


There are other ways of wording it and doing it but this is the basic form I believe.
