ability to leave visitor messages on member profiles

i really want to be able to talk shit on peoples profiles (mainly on @Blupig's ). this is enabled on like every other forum. why not this one?

 

That's what I thought profile posts were originally intended for. I wouldn't mind it.

I think this is a privacy setting somewhere, but I'm not sure.

 

There's a setting for him to allow people to post on his profile

 

And @Superman where exactly would we find this setting?

 

Hover over your name at the top and then click privacy

 

Then I think the suggestion should be amended so that everyone's default privacy setting is set to allowing members to post on your profile page.

ok so something interesting: members who joined after we switched to xen automatically have the visitor messages enabled. weird

 

I'm down with this. I don't see why posting on a person's page has anything to do with their privacy anyway.

Force? We're technically "forcing" everyone not to right now. The suggestion is to make the box ticked rather than unticked by default. If they don't want it it takes 2 clicks to undo it. And why wouldn't someone like it? Are you insinuating that people will be offended or feel violated if someone else can post on their profile? Your point just doesn't sound very rational.

 

I totally read your post wrong, I thought you suggested to remove privacy option altogether (force everyone to always allow people to post). my bad. Yeah making the default setting to allow people to post is completely reasonable

 

There's the setting. Vouch for this being enabled by default. I enabled it just now for myself though.

 

I'll support the default being enabled. I assume it won't be a large fix. You can probably attract Sythe and Matthews attention faster if you create a feature request in the bug tracker.

 

I support this! Seems like it should have always been enabled anyways!
