Add more trophies

We can do a lot more with these; I'm thinking of something like stackoverflow's badges but I'm sure others have ideas too. Thoughts?

 

Yeah, the trophies are a good idea, but not much you can do with them atm. Should add some more of them + some reward system (maybe mini ranks?)

Maybe a trophy for posting X times in a specific section to make them more active.

Edit: Just realized how stupid my suggestion was for posting X amount of times. That would just promote spamming.

 

Would be nice to have trophies displayed somewhere on your profile. I'm fine with any new ones that don't promote spamming.

 

Yeah, noticed that when I signed into Xen, there were barely any. Supporteroni.

 

I'm in full support of anything we can do to promote activity, and to make members try to work towards "collections" or rewards.

 

Trophies are redundant and retarded. You don't need a trophy for posting 1, 30, 100, 1k posts etc. Post count is already displayed, it's not like trophies or trophy points are needed to fill any need that the forum doesn't already have.

Garbage like the "Like" system and trophy system would have been shot down as a suggestion prior to Xen because they simply aren't needed/useful, but unfortunately, they got tacked on with the Xen upgrade regardless. Miniranks fit the role of actual trophies, and likes are just retarded, especially considering built-in feedback systems are denied (when built in feedbacks have a practical application for a market forum).

 

Trophies are kind of useless right now, so I don't think just adding more will do anything. I would definitely support expanding the current list of trophies, but at this point I think it would be better to figure out a use for trophies/trophy points first (I know that there was a suggestion about a rewards shop before).

 

Prizebox for every 25 trophy points. Watch the activity of the forum skyrocket.

 

There are tons of ways to get around "raw # of posts" and "raw # of likes" trophies. "Gain a like on 20 different threads," "post on 50 different days," "log in 50 days in a row," etc.

I'm sure we can collectively pull together a list to get ideas flowing.

 

That's not all of the trophies. Sythe has 291 trophy points, and those don't add up to 291. Not sure what else the points are coming from '

 

I think the points are just glitched for users who were part of the beta. I have 76 points when I should only have 38 because I was awarded all of the trophies again when Xen went live.

 

Eh, as long as thropies are publicly shown, the don't really have a purpose. We should give them a real meaning, and then work on expanding them IMP.

 

The single purpose of a trophy is to show off an achievement.

There would need to be trophies added on a consistent basis to have a viable reward system surrounding it. Eventually there would be no more plausible trophies to be added that can be tracked by the system, meaning the margin for sustainability is short-lived. I'm not opposed to the idea, it just needs to be done carefully.

The system itself definitely needs a rework.

I agree with Dunworry. There is zero harm in adding more ways to promote activity. There are a lot of active members that would enjoy collective rewards for participating in the community for an extended period.

 

I also think it's a good idea to add more trophies. As others have mentioned, there's no harm in adding them, and it could potentially increase activity.

As for whether or not trophy points should get you prizes-- while I'm not opposed to it, I don't think it's necessary. Having a high trophy point count should be reward enough, especially since there's a page that shows the users with the most amount of trophy points.

 

Tagging a prize towards a certain trophy point is a good way to increase activity around the forum. And have those trophy displayed on your post too.

 

The lack of trophies when there is a trophy point system available and in use makes me think that the obvious step should be to add more. Support.
