Sythe Verified

It says you need to be at least a 25$ donor to apply for Sythe verified.
Why not make different ways to apply for it.
For example:
1500+ Posts on forums. Shows you're active with the community, and plan on staying around.
50+ Vouches on forums. Shows you can be trusted.
Member for 5+ Years. Been around the block, and plan on staying with the community.

Thoughts?

 

SVU means verify your PayPal email address and phone number, it hasn't got anything to do with your activity around the forums. No support.

 

what happens if you change your paypal email?

 

Nothing, in reality it's mostly used as information when you're trying to recover your account.

Support. I think it would be nice to also make SVU an option to the following users:

1. Member for 5+ Years
2. 1500+ posts

The vouches option isn't measurable for the system so I left that one out.

 

Disagree on 1500+ to many people farm pc and will easily get svu. What it says and what it is are two different things imo. Makes new people fall into a false sense of security in it's current state. Maybe $50 donor, an account that has been around for a year and a certain milestone of vouches?

 

I don't think it's smart to change the donation requirement since people usually donate $25 to become SVU. They probably won't go as far as $50 to become SVU resulting in less donations to Sythe. Also it wouldn't be fair to new users.

Trusted individuals who haven't donated can't become SVU right now and that's what I would like to see changed. 1500 pc would indeed be too easy to achieve. Maybe something like this:

$25+ donor OR
2500+ posts OR
3 year+ member

 

I thought SVU was also for if in the circumstances someone with SVU scams etc their phone number /details can be given to the victim?

You're right. When a SVU user scams you can request SVU information via Matthew.

So how in any way shape or form would an accumulation of posts on the site or length of registration help in actively combating against SVU's who scam?

I'm under the impression it won't do anything beneficial, therefore if someone like myself had SVU based on length of time registered and then decided to scam, the victim wouldn't have access to any information.

I don't support based on that.

 

- Too many people have it
- Increasing requirements dramatically wouldn't be fair to those who do have it
- The rank doesn't mean much

 

To people who join the site I presume it does being "verified" by a site could be misleading.

 

Miniranks can be misleading to any ignorant user. Any way you phrase it, it's still going to have the same effect. No need to make requirements higher than it currently is because the rank's value doesn't warrant it.

 

My suggestion wasn't trying to make Sythe verified more complicated to get. My suggestion was trying to help others get a chance at sythe verified from different angles. Someone can donate 25$ and get it. Why not make it so a member who has been here a long time get a chance at it?

 

If I could provide the same/similar details to what's taken from paypal for sythe verified I would. For what it costs $5 it sure does look good and stand out lol.

 

The problem is, it serves a specific purpose. Getting it in different ways undermines the point of the rank itself, which is to verify your paypal/phone.

 

I don't get it. When you change the requirements of applying for SVU users will still have to verify their phone number and pay $5 to get it. I just want non-donators to have access to the SVU rank as well.

disagree with the op but think we should get rid of SVU. we'd talked about this as a post-xen thing, should do something about it. ill bring it up in SL sometime this week
