so I can only play 10 clients between my two laptops I need another 10 the problem is my computer is 32 bit, I need to get it to 64 bit without losing all my files, is there a way to do this.

I also need help with the 64bit upgrade, do I have to buy a disk for this can I just burn a copy of it?

If your using windows 7 I believe you need to do a clean install. What you can do however, is install windows 7 64bit to a clean drive and use your current drive as a slave drive so you don't lose your files.

If your using windows vista (however unlikely) you can upgrade directly without losing files.

I'm not sure about windows 10

It depends on what you mean. I doubt you're using 10 clients on a 32 bit CPU, but if you are, you'll need to upgrade your motherboard and CPU for x64. Again I doubt it though since there have been no new x86 CPUs manufactured recently in mainstream PCs.

If you're on x86 Windows (which I'm assuming is true) then you can usually just do a direct upgrade with Microsoft without losing anything. x86 system have a maximum RAM usage of 4GB though, so you might need to buy more RAM. A good way of doing this if you're not on Windows 10 already is to just upgrade to Windows 10 while it's still free.

How is a 32 bit processor limiting your amount of clients? From what I understand about architecture it shouldn't have any affect.

If you are willing to explain your thought process on your issue with more detail, I might be able to suggest a few ideas. You might have been researching ways to solve your problem and misunderstood your situation. Recently I had problems with a Steam game because it was attempting to limit my RAM based on a 32 bit OS (even though my OS is x64). There was a program I used to remove the limit to the game, and it might be able to do the same for the OSBuddy/Runescape client.

I'm not at my apartment, and I don't remember the name, but I'll get that information for you once I get back. The previous comments in this thread are mostly accurate and you should consider them before rushing to jumping into any purchases. The Windows 10 upgrade is free and reasonably painless, without the requirement of a CD or reinstalling most of your content.

Hey guys, I decided to upgrade to windows 10, thanks for the advice :)

And for those asking the issue with 32 bit was that I was restricted to 4gb of ram which would quickly be taken up the more clients I add in.

If I do decide to buy a new cpu, how do I find out if my motherboard is compatible with it. I'm looking at an AMD-FX 8320 eight core 3.5ghz at the moment, how would I know if it would work with my motherboard (p8h61-mx-usb3) thanks in advanced also sorry for the noob questions :p

CPUs use a socket type - if I'm correct, that CPU you're looking at is an AM3+ socket. You just google your motherboard and find out which sockets it supports. If AM3+ is there, you're good to go. Note that AM3 is NOT the same as AM3+, and if your motherboard supports Intel processors, it will not support AMD processors and vise-versa.

ok thanks for the help mate, I believe I cannot use that, but since upgrading to 64 bit and wiping my pc I can play 6 clients pretty smoothly anyway. I also had an extra 4gb ram lying around, which is useful too :p.

I believe I have another i5 processor somewhere in my room too, I heard you can get a motherboard to support two cpu's, if anyone has any insight into that too I would be thankful :)

No lol that's not how it works. The only motherboards that can take two CPUs are server motherboards that take two Xeons.
