How do you train def on a range tank?

My current stats are

52 Attack
52 Strength
53 Defence
81 Range
60 Prayer
50 Magic

Would it be more efficient to train defense through melee or using the long range option on the BP in NMZ? I plan on getting 75 attack 70 Strength and 99 Defense in the future.

 

Using longrange gives a really small amount of xp compared to how quick it'd be to just use melee.

IMO just use rune scim to 60 att - then use d scim to get your defence levels up. ideally whips are good to use but idk if u wanna get 70 att n str

The best option would be to chin on defensive mode. Otherwise, you should just get 70/70 and use a whip.

 

Alright thanks guys, I'm going to get my attack and strength up first to train with the whip. In the future i'll chin out the rest

 

There's a reason range tanks have 70 att and 70 str. Melee your def is the quickest way.

 

I'm leveling up a range tank as well. Pretty much agree with everyone here. If you wanna make bank a buddy of mine got his slayer up high enough to do abby's then just grinded 99 Defence with 75 att /70 str there. Made a lot of profit doing this.

Yeah thats what I'm doing so far, all my melee has been done with questing/slayer so far.

You can, but it's a lot slower xp, so I was trying to find the most efficient method for my build.

 

i would mele if not just longrange

 

I would use melee and tbh stop at 70 or 75 def. 99s will be nothing but agsers at least give yourself a chance at going against a different build imo.

 

use mele get 70 att 70 str use guthans to get 99 def sorted !
