What is everyone working on at the moment?

No in-depth plans or anything like that if its a secret project, just curious as to what the coders of Sythe are up to.

I'm currently re-teaching myself Javascript and HTML/CSS before learning PHP and the API of Steam as I really don't feel like paying others to create something I can teach myself. Regardless, interesting shit and I don't know why I never stuck with it during middle school and the beginning of high school.

As for me, nothing until I'm done exams, but after that I've got a few web jobs lined up. I've been actively supporting some software I made for a condo a while back to track visitor parking spaces as well. I start a consultation position at a web development company in a couple of weeks which will eventually turn into full-time work as a dev.

In my personal time I'm working on a WoW private server launcher and am doing TOjam not this weekend but next (it's a hackathon but for making a game). Also going to be making some miscellaneous portfolio items and dive a bit deeper into web development, specifically with JS + Node.

I'm coding like 80 hours a week at the moment, I have a lot of training to do on top of my regular work.

 

Currently working on an Audit System for a company.

Applications are on hold at the moment as my other work is taking priority. Though the applications are still generating a healthy revenue.

 

I work at a financial software and data firm. I'm currently working on porting a legacy application from our proprietary GUI framework to a web application written with AngularJS. I try to avoid working on the frontend as much as possible and work on the backend services if I can. Haven't really worked on any person projects recently because I do 40 hours of coding at work every week and don't feel like doing more in my free time.

Developing a mobile application for a client on campus. It is supposed to be an instant messenger with each member's picture and has people grouped by different categories. I'm using Android Studio IDE and Java to make it.

 

What are you using to store the data? And the submissions/retrievals?

SQLite database, it is an embedded database that doesn't require access to a server.

It is a new project, I'm still planning out how I'm going to do it. Right now I'm just creating the design and going to build a prototype over the Summer. A training officer for a EMS Squad just recently contacted me about creating it.

 

Making sites for small businesses. Also just got a job at a potentially high-profile company as a Front-End developer.

This company tries to use strictly html/css/javascript as it runs so much faster. Not using many frameworks or libraries makes the project pretty complex.

I used to be into other programming languages and a different career direction, but I got into web-development for the easy money.

Some things that I use otherwise are: HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, SASS, Git, Gulp, Node.js, AngularJS, Bootstrap, Ember, Browserify, Wordpress, and more.

Things I'm learning now and I'm really excited for: ReactJS, AngularJS 2, and ECMAScript 6. These are some of the latest and greatest things on the block IMO, can't wait till I get up and going with them.

 

Just finished developing a provincial park application for the dean of graduate studies and one of his graduate studies in zoology at my school (iOS/Android).

As for personal projects, before that I developed a grocery application somewhat similar (but much less complex) to Flipp (iOS/Android). Currently interested in web development so I started making a social network for my school and I hope to release it come September.

Sounds awful They don't even allow query? I assume the frameworks you are currently using are for projects outside of that company?

 

Just finished creating a small game with C++/OpenGL for AI and computer graphics class from scratch.

For my work I'm usually creating new concepts from scratch with ASP.NET. I only do the back-end part of web applications.

 

Yeah, it's not terribly exciting lmao XD Coding from scratch is kinda a headache, but it makes you think and write some very clean code, resulting in a super smooth and quick product.

Yeah most of the other stuff I use outside of the company.

 

That's what I was heading towards, creating games etc. But it started to look like I could only ever be a cog in a machine towards that goal. At least if I wanted to make a full-scale awesome game.

OMG, dabbled in back-end and it wasn't fun at all Way rather be doing this front-end work. Not super fair since I don't really have a complete grasp of the back-end whatsoever, but as far as I could tell I didn't think I could handle doing it daily.

 

It's totally fine to just do one thing but try to have at least some basic grasp of other things. I try as hard as possible to not have to work on the frontend of my stuff at all but sometimes I have to and it's never fun.

 

I have enough of a grasp to do my job, make calls to the database and such. And to do a couple things for my Wordpress sites. Other than that it's pretty much a black box.

It would be nice to know how it works better, but it doesn't really interest me much, so it's hard to sit down and learn it.

If I ever do a large-scale solo venture, I may have to bite the bullet and learn it.

 

Started doing an internship sort of thing for a web startup, learning React.js right now. Doing a game hackathon over the weekend using Unity + C#.

 

Advanced placement computer science challenge project as of now
