What makes someone trusted on sythe?

I see this all the time in the threads im browsing around. People mention, "I will accept paypal from trusted only" or "no deposit if you are trusted", but what makes someone trusted? Is there anything specific I should look for, besides the obvious clean reputation?

 

Just a mixture of donor rank/vouches/their reputation around the site as well as join date and the quality of their vouches.

You can't just be "trusted" some people will view some people as trusted and others will not, it's based off of an individual's perspective.

 

Join date, feedback from people who have completed trades with the guy, amount donated, amount & quality of vouches. Too many instances now with people backcharging on paypal, all you really need to do is dispute and there is a high probability that you can easily win the dispute

 

So would you guys say the whole purpose of donating is purely to gain trust among the members? Or are there other benefits to it?

 

Basically just means they're "in the hole" x amount to sythe, so if theyve donated 100 dollars, why would they scam 10. This isn't true in every case, but that's basically all donating is. Imo someone is trustworthy when they've been trusted with someone else's money (doing quests on someone's valuable account, selling an account for a good amount of time without recovering etc) and that person vouched a solid trade.

Donating does give you site benefits. CBA to go find that page, but if you look, you'll find it. The more you donate, the better the benefits.

"Trusted" has been consistently been thrown around on this site for as long as I can remember.

Basically, it has to due with being put in a position in which you could scam, steal, and the likes, but instead continue in a respectable manner. Doing a trade in which someone goes first, doing something that involves the holding of something someone else finds valuable. These factors surely play a part, but they are not alone and factors such as ones' personality also play a part in whether one is trusted.

Well, those are my two cents. Majority of people consistently throw trusted around, but I find there to be very few "trusted" individuals on Sythe.

 

The things I look for the most, in this order: Vouches/Post count/Join Date/Donations.
Donation DO add trust, the only reason I put it as last is its fishy when someone brand new donates and get SVU - when they have low post count/vouches etc;
Just looks off.

 

I agree with you Idolized, the people who instantly join and get verified user + 25 donator I don't really find much more trusted than someone without either of those

 

Hmm I find that hard to believe. Someone who has donated $25 is a lot less likely to scam than someone who didn't donate, am I right? If all things are equal, then surely the person with the donation to his name would be more trusted

 

Not quite.
Newcomers dont even get looked at... like no one ever buys from Newcomers,
So they know if they get "Member rank" and invest 25 bucks to get SVU, they have a higher percentage of being able to scam.
Sure, there is a small investment, but without it, they couldnt scam really AT ALL.
A member with low post count with SVU and 25 buck donation, I am WAYYY more weary about.
Now a $200+ donation, is a lot more creditable than 25, however, like previously stated, donations are the last thing I look at.

 

what makes me suspicious of them is they donate same day if not same week as they join. Dafuq is that? And have a signature and a gold shop. What new person knows all that stuff?

When I was a newcomer, my profile looked like dick because I had NO clue how to operate on the site.

 

What I look at is firstly vouches, the quality of those vouches (value of trades, if they went first, positivity/negativity, reputation). Secondly/ thirdly, reputation vs join date, the longer the join date with a clean reputation to me is a safe bet. Those with an older join date tend to have been in the business for a long time which increases the reputation itself. Donations to me isn't that big of a factor if they have the above three. To me donation is just how much they're willing to give to the forums, it doesn't play a role of whether their trusted.

A few other contributory factors include: as Tmoe said personality, if someone acts like a robot with no charisma or just repetative copy & paste live chats it is a big turn off and I don't find that type of no personality as attractive enough for me to want to do a trade with them. Also expanding on the value of trades - if someome has collectively 50 good vouches of small trades compared to someone with 5-10 vouches of much bigger trades, both could be seen as trusted, but the second option would be better as they have handled more wealth. Along with that, if a person can deal with your wealth (if your swapping alot of money) and if they can communicate well (people who tend to be in the graphics market have to deal with what the customer would be happy with), capability is key.

 

The same thing that make people trusted everywhere else. It's normally the opinions of other people that have dealt with them, since they are usually the best people to ask. Their demeanor when conducting business is also a big factor. It's always better to deal with someone a little more personable than someone who talks like a robot.
