Opinion on proper way to console a loser and/or congratulate them on effort?

i play in call of duty tournaments after i finish a game id speak to the person i faced ( if there not raging ) and tell them how to improve they had a preety good game but better luck next time.

 

Honestly and sincerely. If you practice with them more they'll pick up your habits. Also point things out you clearly see are wrong. If its boxing, are they telegraphing the right hook? If they tilt their head before the punch, let them know. It might be something they don't even realize they're doing. Just say it. But do it in a way you'd want done if you were in their situation.

 

'gg' then log off.

 

Say something like "that was fun" or "rematch" or something along the lines of that. Saying good game or something like that isn't being a 'douche'.

I've never actually thought this one through. Usually when I beat my friends in lets say a game of Fifa or 2k16 I just laugh and say "eyyyy good game man" then we go ahead with our lives. I see no reason to complicate things

 

If it's an individual and I'm playing an FPS, I'll usually just say something like "Fair effort". Or if it's to the opposite team I usually say "not a bad game, was a close though".

But usually I don't say anything, because I'm weird and socially dysfunctional.

 

no point on thinking too deep about it imo. it's not that big a of deal, especially in games or whatever.

 

You won, plain and simple. Bathe in their blood and ensure that generations upon generations of their line know of your victory and superiority over them. They're weak and were eliminated. It's that simple. Scalp them and claim the flesh as a token of your magnificence.

Na but for reals tho just play up that it was a challenge for you to win. Say shit like "wow that was a terrific match" or something along those lines. If you don't want them to feel bad about losing then just make them think that it was a close match and that they had a very real chance of winning. Simple

 

Say something along the lines of "Hey, listen. It was a good effort, but I was just a little better at it." Then try to offer them tips to help them become better.

 

Just pm them and say GG better luck next time

 

Shake hands, fist pump or some gesture like that and tell them well played or something like that.
Don't let them feel like it was a big deal, and keep the spirits high.

I don't agree with some of the people saying that you should critique your opponents gameplay after beating them.

Some people have really big egos and will find that as an offence especially after you kicked their butt.

I recommend just saying "I had a great time playing against you" or you can just call them a noob and be done with it

 

Compliment them on something specific you noted about them/ what they did. If you kick their ass in a game of basketball, compliment them on that sick lay up they did.

I can relate to this, I worry sometimes that my communication is going to be taken differently than I meant for it to. Perception is a very crazy thing.
I usually go extra steps in my communication to make sure the person knows I care.
