Is 13 defence worth getting?

Hello, I am opening this topic about an osrs pure I am in the process of making. I can't decide if 13 defence is worth getting or if it will just set me up at a disadvantage. The account will be for mostly pvp.

Pros- slayer helm(i) , xerician robes, addy gloves, black/white armour, hard leather, no need to camp castle wars for halo, black defender

Cons- 3 combat levels....

I am seeking for advice from people who pk on pure accounts and maybe some who have decided to get 13 defence and if it was worth it to them or not. Thank you in advance

 

To PK with? Absolutely not. The reason people get 13 prayer is because it makes PvE more fun with slayer helm etc.

 

It will set you up at a disadvantage, 13 defence is not worth the combat levels.

 

13 def seems pointless to me, as does 20 def.
Anyone with 85+ str will tear through that tiny defence boost.
Only def I would go for is 42 and up. (42 for void obv.)

Outside of that, if you are looking to stay under 42 def, stay 1 def.

 

This - if your pvp based and not pvm stay at either 1 def or just jump to rune pure... the concept of a 13 defence pvp pure seems completely pointless to me lol.

 

It honestly isn's worth it. i'd stay at 1 and maybe if you get REALLY bored mix it up and go 13 and then move up from there

 

Pretty much been answered but either stay at 1 def or go 45 for zerker

 

Hey man feel free to pm for my rsn in game i don't personally have a 13 defence pure, but i have two good friends with 2k+ bh kills with 13 def ags pures who are absolute monsters in the wildy that could give you some nice insight into the account build. I'll even chat at them tonight and add some information from them later on this thread.

 

Talked to one guy and he says "I did it to mostly be unique(fashionscape lol)" He also adds that he already knew he was a bad ass pker and says stats/bonuses are mostly meaningless if you have no idea what you are doing(1 ticking ability, ect.). He says if you think the defence bonuses will help you get more kills then deaths it won't. It's your skill that needs to be worked on you can't just buy/wear better items and think it will drastically improve your pking experience.

I could of told you this tho(i'm a 2k+ bh pker also) i slay kids with blow pipes/fury ammys all day with my strength ammy and MSB even people 4 combats higher with 10+ range strength levels on me and maxed gear. It's all about RNG and properly "stacking" said RNG.

He also adds that he will eventually be making it into a 42 defense pure and this is just a step on his way from being a 1 defence pure that he got bored of.




TL;DR because i love rambling. Skills>items/levels. Don't waste your time reading too much into stats/bonuses/etc. Spend your time reading into strats and game timing stuff instead.

 

Definitely worth it if you are going to clan and multi PK.

 

Thanks for all the input especially Risk, I know what i am doing pking i just wanted to switch it up a bit and was looking for some input. I was just worried that the 3 extra combat levels wouldn't be worth it

 

It is if you're into clanning it wasn't previously. now it is worth it due to xerican robes existing.

 

Most clanning "pures" have 30+ defence tho i think right?

 

A lot of them do, you can get than high def while still being considered "Pure"

To be honest 13 defence is just unwanted combat levels if all you want to do is pk. I would say stay with 1 defence.

 

If you are an experienced PKer and can handle the CB levels, go for it. There are plenty of 13 def pures.

 

As A 1 def maxed account owner and also having 20 def pures , I would honestly say its not worth it 1 def accounts will still hit you just as hard , and the 3cb at levels will really put you at a disadvantage. Only reason I can see you doing this is to be a more unique pure.

 

These few defence levels are just useless unless you want to pvm a bit.
