Xenforo Q/A For Sythe

Hey all! As you all have heard by now, Sythe is in the process of being moved over to a new forum software, Xenforo. In preparation for Sythe Quarterly, the CDT is going to be holding a Q/A session with Sythe and Matthew about the transition. In about a week or so I'll gather some of the best questions from this thread and PM them to Sythe and we'll post the answers in the upcoming Sythe Quarterly. Try to think outside of the box on these, this is your chance to pick big Rich's brain!

 

What will be the biggest change for us plebs in terms of site functionality?

Will miniranks be changed at all, if yes how so?

 

Will Animated User images be implemented?

And will we be able to upload out own 150 x 150 if we are a donor?

 

Oh gosh :s i haven't even gotten to use this one, haha!

will load times be affected? especially for us with lower quality computers

Can we get more fun rank giveaways in the future on Xenforo, i will literally bribe an admin to give me a fun rank at this point in time.

 

Are there any current Sythe features that can't be ported over to the new software?

 

Will we get a Sythe shoutbox? (A better version of Sythechat)
What feature on VB3 will you miss most on Xen?

 

1. Will bold lettering for normal users still be a thing?

2. Will anything be different for donators such as user coloring/perks?

3. Will there be a strict cap on allowed miniranks to be displayed (one that is actually enforced)?

4. Will donors still have a 150x100/64kb cap for manually avatar uploads (will it be possible to upload bigger file sizes manually, or will it still be done through a thread?)

5. With the introduction of a more effective notification system, can the reconsideration of miniranks be given out randomly to users who post (ex: 1/2k chance to receive a random minirank outside the market for posting) be prompt for questioning to boost and encourage more activity outside the market?

Will the design of the new XenForo forum be virtually the same as the current design?

 

Yep it won't change much. That's not really something to ask Richard. All $200+ donors already have access to xenforo for testing purposes.

Is Sythe still planning on doing a sythe wallet implementation? Are there plans to revisit old suggestions that were approved, but tabled in lieu of "vb4"?

 

Can we expect more forum themes, possibly customizable themes?
