    Hey computery guys

I prefer nvidia over amd but besides that it's solid.

afaik that case already has a few fans built in so buying 2 more would be overkill. if you're concerned about temperature, just but a cpu cooler. I have a 212 evo and for ~$20-30 it's hard to beat. looks ugly as shit though

    Hey computery guys

Ight on #1, just went with the R9 after reading comparisons and such.

Point taken on the fans, threw the build on Reddit to get some input and people made the same points. Was initially worried about airflow due to the heavy sound-insulation on the case. Even with the overkill, any negatives on having the fans if I wanted to keep them for minimal white led lighting on the top of the case? Fans are only like $12 a pop. I could always just buy an LED strip and it's probably what I'll end up doing instead.

I'll check out using a cooler

    Thanks toasty

    Hey computery guys

So an actual answer - your build is terrific. Spot on, exactly what I'd likely choose. I probably wouldn't spend as much on a case and I'd probably get a bronze certified PSU instead of gold (might chop off $30), but otherwise you'll get a terrific kick out of it.

EDIT: @Toast's post: Nvidia is better if you like fancy effects on your graphics. Note: not better graphics, but effects on graphics like anti-aliasing, MSAA, etc. Nvidia cards also handle higher resolutions better, so if you're looking to do some 4k gaming then Nvidia is generally the better choice.

If you want raw, full-out power and you're not planning on doing any gaming above 1080p, then an AMD card is the obvious choice.

    Hey computery guys

Well awesome, sounds like my first attempt at a build has been somewhat successful. Now it's just finding deals and ordering parts.

I remember discussing cases with you like 3+ years ago on TC and you talked about how you would rather use a cardboard box than an expensive tower due to the pointless nature of them so I was somewhat expecting that.

I'll check out a cheaper PSU. If there's any major difference on PSU price I'll drop down; if not, I'll stick with it (I'm stretching my budget at this point though).

Maxing out/near maxing out 1080P was the reason I went with the 390, if I go any higher it'll be 1440. Not bothering with 4K until you can play it with nice settings/rates without paying an obscene amount of money.

    thanks blu

    Hey computery guys

    Slight update:

I dropped the ram from 16gb to 8gb and switched from a 650 gold PSU to a 700 bronze (for $40 less).

I'm away at school else I would be like 15 minutes away from one. Either way, I decided to go with a 6500>6600k because I have no plans for overclocking it (my MB doesn't even support overclocking). Since it's $209 I would just pay the extra $5 for the .2 boost, but on Amazon/newegg/and the likes the difference is a little larger and it'll make a marginal (if any difference).

    Thanks for the suggestion though.
