Question that may be really simple to gfx artists

I'm looking to expand my work and learn but I'm having trouble with adding effects to my signatures.

Below is a transparent image that contains lighting that I think would work well with my piece.

You'll also notice because of the lighting there is a "glow" on around the image that is not directly the light itself. Because it is a transparent image, if i expand it to meet the requirements of a signature (650x350) this glow still pertains on the whole image and make the clipping on the border of the signature obvious.

Now when I layer my signature, I put this image in the background so it does not sit in front of my text. I have attempted to change the layer style/ change the opacity in hope that the glow will go away, but it still persists on the finished piece.

    any tips?

Id recommend using your Eraser tool at Hardness 0% to remove the borders

Thanks, but you do still notice the glow, even if you cannot see the borders? is there no way to get rid of that?

Sorry, I guess I didn't quite understand your question. I thought you were asking how to get rid of the borders.

Seems like I don't have you on skype. Ill add you there, so I can help you better.

Looks good but a little edgy in my opinion. Trying using a softer eraser and make it look a little smoother :)
