Can RWT sites get you banned?

I couldn't find any better wording for the title, I know that RWT can get you banned, but the predicament I'm in is that the actual site is threatening to contact Jagex and get me banned.

About 4 months ago my account was hacked, stolen, whatever you want to call it. It was taken for at least a week and I hadn't noticed because I wasn't very active at the time, the only thing that caught my attention was the email change verification from Jagex.

I got the account recovered and all has been well since until this morning when I get an Email for a RWT site (am I allowed to say it's name? I'll leave it out just in case.), stating that if I don't give them the account back or the "disbursement" they will contact Jagex and get the game account banned.

I'm unsure if this is a scam, as all of the contact addresses are from an actual RTW site that seems to have a good reputation.

So what I'm asking is, can they actually contact Jagex and get me banned, or should I just ignore it?

If a site is threatening you for no reason file a scam report, a site can't contact jagex to get you banned.

Can you actually put a gyazo of the email here? We will be able to work with that much more and get PA in a lot of trouble.

 

It is possible for email headers to be forged thus email addresses to be forged. This is very common for phishing emails, and extortion.
I'm almost positive, it didn't come from PA, if it did... lol...

 

I don't see how a site can threaten to contact Jagex and have you stuffed with, when they're a service for illegal marketing anyways? Why the hell would they even try pull bullshit like that anyways?

I'd ignore that shit honestly.

Jagex will always favor the original owner in any account ownership disputes. If you did not RWT and the IP access logs for your account show your RS account was compromised, you have nothing to fear.

 

I find this to be weird, how did they get your email? If you didnt sell the account? Is the email log in the same as the email you use? Other than that I wouldnt even bother worrying about playerauctions. They've been removed from sythe completely for scamming users. I'm surprised they took the time to even email you. They dont bother helping any of their customers ever.

 

So you sold an account on PA, recovered it and now fear it will be banned?

Trying not to point fingers but that is what the e-mail is suggesting.

 

Exactly right, PlayerAuctions are the last people to ask for their money back.

Edit: I just saw your screenshot. After further invesitgation, there are thousands of websites that offer email services that send under any email address, I just tried it and it works. Don't believe this. I'd suggest submitting a ticket to player auctions asking if it were really them, also forwarding the email within the ticket would be helpful.

 

i doubt anything would happen, image a gold selling site / account selling site, contacting "JAGEX" saying this lol, its fake
