Anyone play Age of Empires?

Hey, so I'm trying to play Age of Empires I (the first one) but it won't install properly on my computer (it runs of like windows 98 / ME, and i have windows 10). So if anyone plays it and knows how to make it work (or just knows how to make something like this work), let me know please!

(Can pay, I just really want to get to playing it)

PS: I know to download the launcher in compatibility mode, but it says like DirectX isn't working or something when it finishes the download.

 

Have you tried downloading more ram? Sometimes it tries to boot from your PSU, you'd probably need to update the framework of your CPU temperature.

Haven't played AoE 1 but AoE 2 works perfectly fine on steam and is really easy to set up

I have age 2 installed on my computer I probably have age one, but mine are on windows 7. Maybe giving into Microsoft constantly telling you to upgrade, has caused you to not be able to enjoy a great game ;(.

You must own more than one computers try installing on one with win 7

The comp is use right now is 2012, so I should be getting a new one sooner or later. But as for now, I'm stuck with one comp =L

 

If you're looking to play an old copy of age of empires I'd recommend playing AoE2 rather than AoE1/3.

AoE2 has a HD version (better than original, but still looks bad), decent mods (alignment grid & pussywood for smaller trees) and active communities. You can pick it up on Steam or get a copy off the internet and play with Voobly vs other people.
