How to sell as a newbie?

I have known about sythe for years and have viewed the forums every now and then, but i can never seem to sell anything because of my lack of vouches.

How do i go about selling something (for example, a runescape account) when nobody knows who i am and i have no vouches? all my attempts in the past have failed and I can't imagine that its impossible to sell something without vouches - where do i begin?

any help would be greatly appreciated, and i hope i posted this in the correct place!

 

Probably not a safe bet to just make an account and try to do trustful trades. You could offer skilling services, buy gp from other members, or do smaller trades to get vouches then sell accounts. Why did you register in May if you've known about this for years? What attempts are you talking about?

 

I have another account on sythe that i can't even remember the name for, didnt use it for years as i quit runescape and that was the only reason i ever browsed these forums.

I have attempted twice since i re-registered in may to sell my runescape account and never even recieved a reply on the threads (which have been deleted by me due to the lack of attention they got) - the 1st post i made was too simple, didnt offer any information so thats probably why it didnt work, but even my second attempt didnt gain any attention at all. I also tried to sell gold and an account a few years back when I was using my old forum account but never got anywhere.

IF the only way is to do what you said (services/buying gold) then I will probably just accept that I won't sell the account, i feel like thats too much effort to go through when i only have 1 account to sell and probably will never have another one to sell, and while I understand why people would be hesistant to trade with me i thought it would be easier with a middleman but I have been told even that isnt safe because of how easy it is to recover runescape accounts :/

if you have any other suggestions or tips as to how i can make it safer for a buyer to purchase my account they would be greatly appreciated.

That's the reality of selling runescape accounts, how do you expect someone to trust someone with 0 vouches when you can just recover the account back whenever you feel like it? Your word means nothing when it comes to these type of sales.

 

Lots of people trade accounts, just throw it on the market keep bumping and see what happens.

 

Hi, I'm a relatively new user who's sold over $2000 in gold who has been in a similar predicament.

First off, do you have any forum accounts on other sides that have done something notable? (like being a programmer, script/bot writer, big trader, etc) You should provide links for those so people can see your other vouches/accomplishments.

Your selling a RuneScape account is different than my case, where I sold gold, and could thus trade in small increments to other users wary of potential scammers, which allowed me to slowly acquire vouches. Jagex will always return ownership of an account to the original owner, so it's going to be quite difficult to sell it. You should consider an account rental service, where you rent your account to other users and retain ownership of it. It's significantly safer for both sides, since there are no illusions about who has control over the account.

I have vouches from the runescape clan that I am in, i do firecapes for clan members for free, maybe i should make a vouches topic or something?

I didn't even think renting accounts was a thing, i will most probably look into doing that for free, for people who want to make money or something, seems like very low risk stuff.

Someone recently told me about playerauctions but i believe they require photo ID which im not sure im very comfortable with, can anyone vouch for this website?

Playerautions is a legit site; however, lately they have been getting a bad reputation for poor customer support. Many sites will ask for photo ID, along with some other additional documentation when purchasing GP, in order to ensure that the paypal you're paying with is indeed your's. This is to prevent fraud claims that people have been known to make. The reasoning they ask for this is because playerauctions acts as a middleman. Any fraud that happens, they take the hit. So if a buyer buys gold from a seller, the seller will 100% get paid, regardless if the buyer disputes the payment, and even ends up winning.

 

I'd stay away from accounts on playerauctions atm. If something goes wrong you're probably screwed

 

Same boat. But I've got vouches in other websites. I wonder when we can get rid of our "newcomer" label on our names.

 

The easiest way to gain trust is to use secure payment methods in order to obtain some vouches within the market. Once you have that baseline of trust you could move forward to using PayPal as a payment method for small amounts and slowly progress. If you are in need of making money whilst obtaining vouches, you could look at things like offering skill progression or some form of service. Something I would recommend wholeheartedly is to be active within the community, don't limit yourself to the market. Get your name known to those and show you are here to stay, not just another come-and-go. It will take time but rest assured, you will get there eventually.

just brainstorm good ideas, be a part of the community. maybe offer free services for a bit to show people you are interested and committed. theres many ways to go about it

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Almost got scammed for my account trying to sell it, but hey its all progress.

Have been enjoying my time browsing the forums and talking to people on here despite being contacted by so many scammers! its now blatently obvious why nobody will buy an account from me, however i am starting to get more involved in the runescape black market and do wish to get more involved in trading on the market in the near future - though I did get my fire cape services thread closed because i made a mistake and didn't fix it quick enough! but, like I said, its all progress

 

Work your way up like I am. Do some free skilling services and rake in some vouches. Takes time but if it's what you wanna do, don't let anyone stop you.

 

Use a sythe mm you cant get a good reputation over night got to start somewhere
