    Thank you for your service.

Xier0, all fof this knowledge you have is secondhand. You'll never know what its like until your back is up against the wall, and its time to make those hard decisions.

Also, you've made no mention of holding politicians accountable for deaths (innocent or not). Our soldiers are just doing they're jobs. Some go above and beyond, some dont. I dont think what were doing is wrong, but if you do then why look around a little bit and see whos actually making the decisions as to where and why our military goes. If your upset about innocents being killed ask the people who sent our soldiers there. Soldiers are just doing what they're told, and as he stated, you dont know until you've been, you have NO IDEA how you would react when someone was to shoot at you. They're people just like everyone else. Without them we have nothing, ill be the first to bet you would be the first to up and run if things go array here at home xeri0.

Being a keyboard warrior is easy
Being a real life combat warrior is not.
Think before you post, we can all agree or disagree, but dont be disrespectful.

Agreed, it's the governments fault, not the soldiers. Xiero is uneducated, just excuse his idiocy.

Why are soldiers treated with so much respect?

Are you implying that soldiers aren't a part of the government?

Really? Soldiers raping children and massacring unarmed innocent people is an ambiguous moral decision that can't be condemned by people do don't do it themselves? So what if I judge rapists and murderers secondhand without raping and murdering myself - what a shit argument.

NOT AN EXCUSE -- ALREADY BEEN COVERED MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS IS A MILGRIM FALLACY

Tell me then, what are they doing? How can soldiers justify their bombings of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, and Syria? What are they doing right exactly by playing politics in the middle east with bombs?

    >Implying I've never been shot at before
    >Implying these soldiers didn't commit war crimes entirely out of battle situations

You can't "disagree" with things that are truth. If I tell you that soldiers murder innocent people, and provide proof of that, you can't say "I disagree", because we have proof that my claim is true. I don't respect murderers, stop saying that I should.

You make very good arguments, without resorting to hurling insults like the rest of these cretins.

This is what happens when you bogart all the punch kids....

Why are soldiers treated with so much respect?

It's as simple as people who have the courage to lay down their life for their country deserve to be rewarded for it. Some people may not be in the armed forces for the purpose of protecting the country but it still deserves to be recognized.

Why are soldiers treated with so much respect?

Because you are respecting them for their service. They went to another country and faced the possibility of war/death just so that you wouldn't had to do it. In another countries, volunteering is non-existant and as soon as you are 18 you have the possibility of being chosen to become a soldier regardless if you want to or not. You are respecting them for volunteering so that you don't have to.

You sir are hands down the dumbest little child on the internet today, congrats!!

Imagine a world without a military. Ok? Now this is where common sense will come into play here, so prepare yourself!

Assuming you live in the USA, many people hate/envy the USA. So terrorist groups such as Isis, Al Qaeda, and so forth would not hesitate to come shoot people in the streets without any remorse. Do you think they would be afraid to do so if we didn't have such a strong military? No, they wouldn't, because I can assure you little Billy working at your local police station will not be able to do shit against a terrorist group if they were to come shoot up your neighborhood. The people that risk their lives to protect idiots like you deserve respect, because without them, we would simply not be protected.

I asked for proof, and you just respond by calling me dumb.

Okay. Tell me what sort of horrible things might happen if the US wasn't involved in military operations around the world.

Like they did in France & the US? How did, say, United States pilots bombing Libya protect Californian citizens from Muslims gunning them down?

    1) I respond by calling you dumb because if you even have to question what military men and women do to protect us, you are in fact stupid, and quite frankly, ignorant.

    2) It has nothing to do with what the military is involved in. Terrorist groups hate America out of envy. Can you honestly sit here and say that events such as 9/11, the Boston Marathon bombing etc were done out of retaliation for military operations?

    3) If we didn't have a military, their would be many more tragedies such as France. Unfortunately, events like these are basically impossible to prevent (such as school shootings), but having a strong military force scares terrorist groups and limits what they can do. The fact that I even have to sit here and explain how a strong military protects your country baffles me .. You just have to be that moron that tries to discredit people who are more brave than you'll ever be.

Once again, you haven't provided any of the proof I asked for, you just resorted to calling me stupid again.

No. You were the one that claimed that soldiers prevented Muslim attacks by ISIS and Al Qaeda.

    Proof?

Why are soldiers treated with so much respect?

I joined the Army and became a soldier literally a day after graduating high school, I served active and I still serve 1 weekend a month.

I can tell you I picked an MOS I wish I never should of picked, 11 Bravo (Infantry) which for those who don't know 11B is front line boots on the ground in combat zones, I was deployed for my first time to Mosul, Iraq. I was that kid months out of basic who was ready to go to war and when I got there, within 3 hours I can promise you I was scared shitless - In that 3 hours of landing and connecting with our units we lost a soldier to a roadside bomb and many more injured.

In them 3 hours I realized what I got myself into, I realized it was no longer a joke, I was no longer shooting blank rounds with a bunch of people serving for the wrong reasons @ basic training.

I was there for 12 months, it changed my outlook on life indefetiently. I cannot say I truly suffer from PTSD (I was treated for weeks after a roadside hit my squad killing our NCO (Sargent) but I cannot enjoy simple things of life like I used to enjoy. 4TH of July I literally like to bury my head into the pillow or listen to loud music and stay inside, same for New Years.

Riding down the road, hitting a bump in my car often freaks me out sometimes I have to pull over and regain myself again.

It's the simple things that I used to enjoy every year or every special occasion that I will never enjoy again, now let me make this point to you of why I said all of that.

    I had ONE deployment.
My ONE deployment was 12 MONTHS.

In 12 Months war changed my life, I never talk about what I did in them 12 months not even to my closest family members but I do talk about events that changed me.

Think about how people who served longer, in times of war I'm talking 3-4 years, I'm just one guy who served 12 months and I came back a totally changed person, do I ask for respect or for people to bow down to me? Not at all, do I get it? Almost all the time in uniform.

Yes we signed up for the job, yes we went to basic training and literally got our shit pushed in (in simple turns) but none of us Soldiers who have gone on a deployment to go through and see things thousands of us have seen.

If I get saluted, I take it with the greatest honor rather it be a young kid, or an adult who can't properly form a salute and at the end of the day I can proudly say I know I fought and still have the possibility anytime to fight for whats right.

Add me on Skype if any other soldiers/marines etc would like to chat.

Why are soldiers treated with so much respect?

(I am American and these are my thoughts.)

Many people in my family have served in the military. My cousins, my uncles, and my grandpa. Even though I never was told to respect and salute military members and veterans, I learned to appreciate how much they have done. This can be on the record, I don't really support war at all. But I do respect those that choose to risk their life in order to protect our freedom.

To the people that say war is dumb and that America is idiotic and live in America, just leave. If you don't want the protection that our soldiers give us, then don't take it. Go to Canada or where ever if you don't want to appreciate or at least respect what those in the military do for us.

People that join the military give up literally everything they have. Their families, friends, loved ones, and many other things in order to simply defend freedom. When I see a man in uniform that lost a leg or suffers from PTSD, or whatever I can only imagine what he (or she) went through in order to protect my freedom.

These soldiers do not represent the government that sends them out there. Many people say that the US went into the Middle East for no reason at all, or for a greedy reason. I do not disagree with that, but I do disagree with those disgracing the military men and women who went to fight because they believed they should be helping their country.

I feel like I am kinda just blundering on and on and I might not be getting my point across, I don't know. All I know is that veterans and military members should be treated with the respect they deserve. They do things for us that many of us would be scared to do. I respect them completely and wholly. Whenever I see a veteran I try to thank them for their service because, quite frankly, they don't get told that enough. Whether they were in combat or not, they have sacrificed being with their wife, their children, everything they have in order to serve.

I don't see why people can't see that. I'm not asking anyone who disagrees with me to salute every soldier and to thank every veteran, I'm just asking them to consider the sacrifices that these people took in order to try to help give you the opportunity, the ability to speak freely and to live how you do today.

Sounds like you have no idea what freedom is. Soldiers don't fight for freedom. Ask a soldier if you have the freedom not to pay them. It turns out, they are the enemies of freedom, because if you use your freedom to refuse to pay the soldier, the soldier will turn his gun on you.

Soldiers should be treated like the common thieves and murderers they really are, just dressed up in a uniform.

It sounds like you have no idea what soldiers are. You're just talking about mercenaries bud. Soldiers VOLUNTEER themselves to fight for a cause in which they believe. They don't do it for the money. They do it for something bigger than themselves.

If you don't support them then you can go fuck yourself. Think about it this way.. Say one day we get attacked on are own soil (USA) and there are people attacking all over the place and you can't defend yourself... What do you do? what do you expect? You expect the soilders to come and help, right? Well since you don't support them they wont come to you. :)

I agree with you, but you also shouldn't try to force your opinion on anyone because that never helps the situation (Take Westboro Baptist Church for example lol)
