I think, if the option is on the popup, that everyone would just turn it off after clicking on a couple of links.

I swear I've seen this before, was it something that was once added ages ago that's now been removed? I'm not sure if anyone else remembers.

    Anyways;

I completely agree with this. Members that are too impatient and oblivious to check the links that they're clicking are going to just skip the small warning without notice, it's just an automatic action for most people, like clicking yes to reading terms and conditions.

Unfortunately, I don't think the investment time/reward is worth it.

If the person clicked on the website link, they saw the link they most likely won't notice the small change to the website "i.e www.runescape.com.me/m=forum/forums.ws?"

Only place i think your suggestion would be useful is for picture link (URL linked to a picture) where the user does not see the link explicitly. otherwise i don't personally think it'd make a huge difference

Something like this existed at one point, however I'm not sure what happened to it.

Regardless of thay fact, phishing links don't last long on sythe, and when identified they also get added to our blacklist to prevent them being posted again.

If you come across a phishing link on site, report the thread to staff and ensure the staff member that handlea your report also contacts an admin in order to have the url added to the blacklist.

Why dont we start with making Sythe deliver HTTPS?

Seems to be a much better course of action then to block every outgoing link with a redirector

I don't understand how people get lured into phishing sites it is plain ridiculous. Aside from that what can you do? People need to learn the hard way on this one.

This honestly seems like a great idea, never thought about HTTPS. Maybe you should suggest that, would 100% support you! Would only be a small investment anyway.

That's stupid, plain out stupid. That's like you getting scammed and it's you "learning the hard way".

I believe Richard is planning to do this once we complete the migration to xenforo.

or you could, you know, not click on suspicious links

in all honestly, we're pretty good about catching phishing sites and you're many times more likely to click on a phishing link in a skype chat than you are on sythe.

    ---

unrelated, but we don't hold hands when it comes to being scammed or not knowing site rules. so this
is inaccurate. another topic for another time though

This would only affect phishing attempts posted on Sythe.org, which the vast majority I would assume would come from outside the site. Incredibly restrictive for absolutely no benefit, no support.
