RiD Beta Testing, anyone got some info?

Original RiD bots were pretty great. RiD has been around for a long time, they were a thing before Rsbots.net came to be (Nexus was around and I'm pretty sure they started after RiD) and the only botting communities that can argue longevity with RiD in longevity would be scar, villavu, and rsbot.

Obviously marketed well, it was just a very well-written color bot (well at least I'm assuming off what I've read and that it's screen-scaping, not relying on injection/reflection).

Either way, RiDs original bots were good and ahead of their time. I have been awaiting Genesis and I understand the setbacks and they are utterly disappointing; nonetheless, when it is actually released I'm sure it will be fantastic. Beta testing is in progress (as Trent already stated) and I like others would like to get in on it, but I am not going to drop $250 (and that's discounted Veteran pricing); nor am I sure when it will be opened to the public. While the wait may be a little disappointing, give it time.

I myself think RiD should have created some basic bots for simple tasks and marketed those in the meantime (past few years) while he worked on Genesis.

 

I've been anxiously awaiting the return of RiD .

It has been an obscenely long time, but I'm glad the owner is taking time to make sure that its working well and safe to use.

When it goes public I have an alt account with some 99's to test on.

 

Well, I had an opportunity to try out the beta.

Currently it is incomplete, and extremely complicated to use.

Still looks promising if RiD can make it a bit more user friendly.

 

I think it's a great idea, I'm just scared that it will take too long to come out and a lot of the hype will die down. RiD has always had it's dedicated crowd, but I've never gotten into it due to the increased cost and difficulty to set up compared to other bots out at the time. Now might be the time I take the plunge though, especially with bot-bans being at an all-time high on OSRS.

Did you try any tasks in particular? Or just tested the bot out as a whole.

 

I tried mining, it was incredibly difficult to get setup.

Also lots of stuff is incomplete. I feel it'll be 6 months minimum before its even useable.

It's fully usable right now. I've botted three 99s so far with beta, you're just not meant to bot non-bankstanding skills atm such as mining.

We're moving on to stage two in a few days approx, you'll be able to do mining then. I'll be doing that myself, until I get a mining pet

 

I was actually able to mine without walking.

I'm not saying its impossible. But for me in its current state it isn't something I'm interested in using.

Because of the difficulty to get it setup, incomplete features/bugs, etc.

I'm not bashing on RiD, I actually liked the bots in the past. I'm encouraged that there is a beta out and I'll be keeping up with the bots progress.

 

RID has always been so secretive. I didn't see the point of it when Nexus was around because why use anything other than Nexus.

And their new bot still isn't out after 2 years of dev work.

in the past rid has done some good color bots, ill be awaiting the release of the new one. but I can definitely tell you I wont be dropping 250$ on the beta testing.

the only real big *turn off* is his lack of updating his main thread for the public, I understand that he is in beta testing (from trent, aufi) but his main thread hasn't been updated since November. Rid reminds me a lot of the jagex darkscape devs.

 

Yeah, he doesn't do much posting publicly on testing progress. He generally just lets the testers do the talking there. However, once he extends this beyond VIP we're likely to see more public information.

As of the recent update (v0.461) bot creation is really simple and intuitive, and my bots are running very well. I definitely see 99 fletching in the near future.
