After talking a bit about this with Video I really realised how many gold selling/swapping websites use their website design. My honest opinion on this is that people really shouldn't be using it, it looks unprofessional, and plain out not appealing.

What do you think?

If you are unaware of what a DDIS website looks like I'll provide a screenshot.

 

People can use whatever website they want. I assume that design is used because it is easy to set up sites that way and built for customers to buy quickly.

 

This type of website is easy for our coder to setup, as the code behind it is basically copy-pasted from a template (it's still quite a bit of work but not as much as making a new website every time).
It's easy for customers to see the prices (and buy) without having to go through some ridiculous form that requires you to enter the amount you want to buy in K or M.

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is in relation to the title.

 

It's literally a general discussion. I wanted to know what people had to say about the overused template.

 

I guess you could say its over used yes and they probably could use a wider range of templates overall, but other than that, I don't see any issues with it.

 

i find it really professional and easy to use with so many payment methods it makes it easier to buy/sell anything.

 

It's simple to navigate. It's better than having an over-complicated system where you have to decode your way through the website functionality just to purchase some runescape gold.

It's simple, easy, and a spastic could find his way to the end.

 

It's extremely simple to use. Imagine there's someone who speaks no English at all. It's still easy for them to navigate around the webpage, as the Logo's denote what game they want to buy from, the currency amounts are the same as they would see ingame, and the payment option's are easy enough to choose from, then when you go to pay, the payment method you use they auto translate their own webpage. It's extremely simple to use, and there's a lot worse designs out there.

 

I thin you guys got me wrong, I didn't say it was a bad design. I am simply stating that the amount of people using it is overwhelming.

 

The reason it's used so much is simply because it's so easy to navigate and use. Take a look at most email providers, it's the exact same thing. Sure, the colors and the url are different, but it's setup pretty much the same way. Spam/junk goes into spam folder, what you see comes into your main folder, you can create sub folders, etc etc

 

I see where you're coming from, but do you see where I'm coming from?

 

I'd imagine that most users looking to purchase gold aren't looking to purchase from the cleanest looking site, rather from the cheapest and "highest rated".

Why go above and beyond making a kick-ass custom site if it's not going to impact your sales at all?

It's kinda like the, why go to Target when you can go to Walmart? Most products are the exact same, but walmart can end up being a bit cheaper, just isn't always quite as nice looking (store wise) as Target is.

 

I understand, and that's a valid point. I just don't feel like it's professional. It's like Target and Wall-mart using the same site, that's my opinion though.

 

I totally agree, and honestly I base most of my irl shopping online on that. If the site is poorly made, what makes me think their products are any different? Unfortunately RSGP is RSGP, and people will flock from one site to another to save a few cents per mill.

Yeah, and I can see why. Everyone is in for saving money.

Video, you and I must have a lot in common.

 

We use DDIS, it's decent but there are a lot of fees involved. As Cas said though, it's not that hard to setup.

 

Is it too personal to ask what the fees are like?

 

That's something that would need to be discussed with management. It's not anyones place to say.
