    Cold Showers?

Cold showers are there to prepare the recovery stage for DOMS (Delayed onset of muscle soreness).

Simple terms: cold showers aid recovery and has psychological effects such as releasing tension and stress within the body.

    Cold Showers?

I think it's crazy hard to start, but taking them is really good for you. Anyone got tips on how to start taking them?

    Cold Showers?

I've had a few before which lasted an average time and all I did was pace myself, so start by gradually decreasing the temperature each time I bathed/showered then finally going cold turkey. This would then prepare the mind state and the body will be physically ready to face the drop in temperatures.

If not, have you tried looking up a few other methods on Google which may help you?

    Cold Showers?

You could start off by ending your warm shower with 15-30 seconds of cold water. That'll help build some tolerance overtime.

Or you could just jump straight into the cold shower no warm water whatsoever. Thats how most people start off =p

    Cold Showers?

I always start hot and end freezing so I do not sweat as I get out. Doesn't feel bad if you work up to it.

    Cold Showers?

They both have their different health benefits, but i shower w/ hot water, because it seems like it cleans my skin out a little bit better.

    Cold Showers?

Hot water opens up your pores more which causes your skin to absorb more of the toxins found in soap and it dries out your skin. Cold water tightens up your pores which is much better for the skin.

    Cold Showers?

I've tried cold water, but it was freezing as fuck. I'm trying to gradually develop a tolerance to it, but every time I hop in the shower it's cold as fuck because I think my family showers with fucking ice cubes.

    Cold Showers?

Cold/lukewarm water is good for your hair. Your body has natural oils which will come off with extreme heat, and this is not good for your face at all.

    Cold Showers?

Exact same for me lol, I always hop into the shower expecting it to be freezing and having to crank it up and wait a bit for the water to warm up before hopping in. That being said I'm also trying to slowly lower the temperature and increase tolerance to cold showers. If nothing else it saves on water heating bills :p

    Cold Showers?

Never taken a cold shower before 'o_O

I have, however, taken an ice bath after a long tournament for ultimate frisbee. Not the most fun thing to do =L

    Cold Showers?

These past few cold showers it seems like my tolerance to the cold has decreased for some reason. Maybe its because i turn the cold knob all the way and ice cold water comes out lol. I think i'm going to try semi cold water showers from now on.

    Cold Showers?

I have cold showers. I spent 6 months in Tonga where there were only cold showers in the house I was living in. It was not too hard to adjust because the weather is extremely hot/humid so a cold shower is what you want. I found myself running in and out of the water at first, soaping and then running in and so forth. After 2 weeks it just became normal, and I had no problem just standing in the cold water. I can say though, it's a lot more refreshing to have a cold shower, it really wakes you up (especially because I was waking up at 4.30am every morning to go to the bush, it seems early but its suprisingly not too dark at this time, and besides, the roosters wake you up).

I have always taken cold showers; it's relaxing. No clue if there are any benefits to this.

    Cold Showers?

Best way to start out is to jump into a pool, lake, river, etc. and then progress to a shower. If you don't have access to that, then slowly ease into the temperature, and make sure to yell/swear, it will allow you to mentally tolerate more pain, in this sense very cold water.

    Cold Showers?

Iv'e been trying that method. Jumping into a shower with freezing cold water is just torture... Especially during this time of the year where temperatures are blow zero.
