Season 6 Placements Thread

5-5 from diamond 5 to plat 4, won a game got +26.

I was gold last season and now I got placed into Bronze I, in my opinion I only had 1 really bad game :s (went 6 wins vs 4 loses)

I was P5 (higher mmr than average) and went 5-5 and got gold 3.

I was actually pretty surprised it wasn't lower.

 

d1 last season, d5 the two seasons before, p3 the season before that. I usually drop down to low/mid gold.

 

Apparently telling the 0-8 kindred on my team that they suck was enough to set off a perma ban

 

A bit of ranting.

So end of season, you are in your top league (I'll use D5 in this example). Your placements are played with/against your elo (D5) so you're supposed to go 5-5 if everyone plays as they should. Going 5-5 will leave you in gold 2 (I'm assuming). Once G2, you're still playing vs your own elo. How the fuck are you supposed to have a 70% winrate or so to climb back whilst playing vs your own elo, how does this make sense?

You probably killed your MMR by losing a bunch after accidentally hitting diamond. When I was d5 a few seasons ago I went 1-9 and landed in gold 1. Not very hard to climb after that if you deserve to be in the rating you were in previously, things settle back to normal pretty quickly.

 

You misread my comment.

I said 'your top league' meaning the highest elo you can get yourself and I used D5 as an example.

If you're talking about me, I actually had a 55% winrate in the 30 ~ games I played in diamond so I don't think I killed my mmr.

My comment was; how are you supposed to climb from lower elo than what you were last season but still playing vs the same people where you're expected to have a 50-50 winrate

 

Oh, I see.
Because you're going to have a lot of players far worse than you speckled in there. As a d5 who did mediocre on placements you'll have high silvers and low golds who did well on their placements. The odds are way in your favor. If you did well on your placements you'll usually land in p1 with everyone else. The system still takes MMR into account so you'll be playing with your "skill group" of plat 1s still. If you do really well like 11-1 or better you'll start getting matched with the Masters and Challengers on their placements... that's where the fun really starts.

For this reason I'm waiting for a few weeks until I do my placements, at least that way once I get placed in Plat/Gold from D5 my climb will be a lot easier because the other D5s will hopefully have already climbed out of there

 

To scared to play on main atm but smurf 9-1 and got P1. Was p3 last season on that account =)

Went a lot better than expected lol. D4, 2-8 to P4. I was expecting silver tbh so a nice surprise
