If you convince her to date you instead of your friend, the relationship between you and your friend would obviously change. Do you value the friendship more than your love for her? It can go both ways. If you decide to date the girl your friendship with your friend might be in jeopardy. If you decide not to you'll most likely keep the friendship while still being able to maintaining a good relationship with the girl. It honestly depends on what you value more. Imo honestly

If you don't know this guy then make either decision. you won't be wrong for taking her or leaving her. if she still loves the other guy then move on. Don't waste your time who still has left over feelings. and if you want a girl to fall for you man, be confident show assert yourself if she doesnt like that or says something about it then you know she still has feelings for the other guy, but if she lets it happen then who knows, you guys might spark and make a fire :b

 

Convincing someone to date you, by leaving another relationship doesn't sound like a good idea to me...more so a productive one.

You said she has previously mentioned she would like to be with you, and that it's also been established that you both think her BF is a jerk. If she actually wants to be with you, and actually wants to leave her BF, let he do it of her own volition, that way you know she actually wants you, and thus chose you. If you're aim is to convince her, then you'll truly never know if she wanted to be with you of her own merit, or that she 'settled' for you.

Also, have you actually seen this other bloke be a jerk to her/heard it from other people aside your female-friend? She could just be venting/seeking attention.

Lastly, if she is one of your close friends, would you be willing to throw away said friendship in order to pursue a relationship? Remember, it's very, very unlikely that things would go back to as they were if you guys were to end badly/break up.

Make sure she actually breaks up with her boyfriend first. Also make sure the dude is actually a jerk; he could be trying to fix things, you never know.

If she actually wants to be with you, yet she's still with the other guy, you have to understand that that might happen to you as well; what if she was with you, and she had feelings for another. Do you want a girl like that?

Lastly, make sure you don't throw away your friendship over a relationship that might not work. Yeah, it might be the best shit ever, but if it doesn't work out (maybe she'll have feelings for another) do you want to jeopardize your long-lasting friendship?

I would say no. Morals come into play and a person should never take what's not theirs - Including a guy/girl.

You could advise her to break up with him, let her know why you think she should, and if she freely did from that point, nothing wrong with it then. But to "steal" her would be wrong in my opinion.

if she was married, and had kids, yeah trying to win her affection to break up her marriage and family would be a shitty thing to do morally. here though? nope
