Jagex Copyright question!

Guys I was wondering if I could get in any trouble if I would sell T-shirts with the name 'Jagex' on it (not the logo). Hope to get some answers guys!

^ Found at the bottom of their website. You likely would be alright until you started selling a sizeable amount of them; however, I wouldn't recommend it whatsoever.

Yes, they own the name you would get in legal troubles if you got caught.

 

If you're selling it without there permission, yes you can and most likely will get in trouble if they found out.

 

Have you actually tried asking? They might be okay with it, or you may only need to send a small part of the profits in case they do sell successfully.

You could always try and dodge around the cause by using different spelling and all, but probably not worth the risk.

 

Please tell us. But really you're only going to get in trouble if you get caught.....makes sense right? So if you're only going to be selling a tiny amount, I would have thought you'd be fine.

 

i think the real question is "Why would you ever want to do this?" i'm sure you could get away with making one shirt, but i wouldn't make them in bulk. eith way, don't make yourself look like an idiot

 

Well ive been gold farming for a while and i must say I kinda love jagex for the mula ive gotten over the years lol so as many others in my group chat/subbies. Thats why i thought about creating a shirt with 'sponsored by Jagex":idea: I showed a sample to some of my friends and they loved it, thats what brought me here!

I'd strongly recommend against doing that for profit.

Sure, make a few for your friends if you like. But Jagex is lawsuit happy and you really don't want to get sued over something so silly.

 

I like this idea, especially in the spirit of what you're using the name for.

 

I say do it, send me one aswell while your at it!

 

As soon as you start making a decent profit, Jagex will find out and file a lawsuit. Just don't bother or you can keep it small scale.

 

If you keep the business small, then I'm sure it won't be that much of a big deal..but there's always that risk since it is trademarked.

 

Actually nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be. While I don't reckon they'd open a lawsuit immediately (Probably send a cease and desist letter first), I'd recommend against it, or you'll lose all your hard earned money defending yourself.
