Sent PayPal as Gift, Got Scammed - Can I Safely Dispute This?

I sent "OvidiuBianca" $12.50USD via PayPal gift for a RS account, and he recovered his Runescape account the next day.

I can't dispute and say I never received the item, but I can say it was an unauthorized payment.

However, it says if they find I'm not telling the truth, they may terminate my account, so I don't know if it's worth the risk.

Anyone been through this before? What should I do?

If you use your Paypal a lot, I doubt it's worth it as it WILL limit your account regardless as from what I've heard.

 

I wouldn't risk it personally, you really shouldn't of sent it as gift, if it's not unauthorized they will easily be able to tell especially if it's a payment sent from the same ip as usual.

 

You may want to call Paypal up and be honest and explain your case. Honesty will go a long way. They may tell you no, but you never known.

 

Idk if it's worth the risk at all. Calling them up might not be too good either because we all know how shitty Paypal is when it comes to dealing with virtual goods but it's worth a shot I suppose.

 

Thanks everyone. Only reason I sent as a gift is because it wouldn't let me send anyother way, it kept giving me an error and told me to try again someother time.

 

I wouldn't do this; the first thing they would do is point you in the direction of their ToS and limit your account. They're assholes.

 

Word your looking for is "know" / this will not work

Honestly wouldn't advise it for 12$ but you can always file unauthorized claim say you did not mean to send money to the user or someone else made the charge. It would be consider fraud if you did this but i know of a couple people who won like this even if they sent the money via there normal device.

 

Not even worth the trouble for $12.50 usd honestly unless you want to call them up and explain the situation.
