    Ram + GFX Card Suggestions

I'm currently running a stock factory built HP Envy Phoenix PC (Build): http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03538065

I am looking to update components now and am wondering on the specs people would advise.

I'm looking to currently swap out the current 8GB Ram and upgrade it to a decent 16GB (2x 8GB sticks) and I'm unsure of which ones would be best with the build the comp is already at.

I am also debating on changing the GFX card but I wonder what you guys would advise for that. Budget is relatively tight but I just want to know what you guys would advise in general. Preferably looking for sites in the United Kingdom for prices.

Before i make suggestions what do you generally use your PC for? And what is your budget for upgrades?

Looking over your PC specs and parts i'm fairly impressed with how upgrade-able your PC is.

Generally speaking 8GB is more than enough for the average PC gamer, if you want to upgrade to 16GB of ram you're maxed out at DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 so any 2x8GB kit of ram will do you just fine (I'd suggest buying a reputable brand just to be safe incase of RMA's i.e. corsair, kingston, crucial, samsung)

    Any of these will do:

As far as a GPU upgrade goes it all depends on your budget as your PSU can support a wide array of GPU's.

Run gaming but also sometimes have stuff in the background. I like to run my games high/max spec and for the Ram budget is £150 GBP Max (for all your $ guys out there, thats ~$220 USD)

The budget for your RAM is £150? That's a lot of money for ram lol...

Whats your overall budget then with GPU + Ram?

The ram should net you under $100 man. I just recently picked up two cheap sticks totalling 16gb of ram and it's been doing me wonders. Check them out here:

Pick up two of those and you should be good to go!

I've got 8GB of RAM in my current build, and it doesn't really feel like enough. This is mainly because I've got a three monitor set-up, and by the time I have a game up on one, Sythe/Facebook up on the other and Youtube/Other media player up on another, it's getting pretty full.

For "Futureproofing" I'd recommend spending the little bit extra for 16gb.

My Graphics card handles fine, I've got a GTX 970. When I have a load of tabs open on chrome and all the other stuff, my Memory usage is over 80%.

8GB should be more than enough for what you're doing. You likely have a shitload of useless or redundant processes bogging down your system in the background.

Anyway @OP I'd push up to 12 max and spend the rest on a new card. I think you'll be happier with a new graphics card over more RAM, considering 8GB is still fine these days. My beast of a gaming rig still sports 8GB, never had a problem.

I actually found that I had a RAM leak, which solved my issue.

It's all about preference. I prefer my FO4 on Ultra at at least 40 frames :p
