Conjoining of Off Topic Sub-forums

My proposition:

General Discussion
Intelligent Discussion (Changed from SFA)
Sport, Health & Fitness
Media
Technology & Programming
Spam Forum
Sand Box

In this there would be no sub-forums, there really isn't discussion activity to sustain any

 

I really like having the programming section even if it is dead.

 

Most of them are already fine as they are. The only thing that I would probably support is combining of the media sections.

 

You and blupig both, yet you two are the only ones that are in that camp it seems if ya know what I mean. There really isn't activity that warrants it.

 

The current layout:

From first view, and first opinion of what it should be combined into.

*I agree that Music's sub-forums should be completely combined into the single section "Music".

**Intelligent discussions its a much better name then Something For All. However should not be under General Discussions.

*** Occulus Rift Section, hasn't even had as much attention, as Richard has wanted. Whether it even needs a section let alone sub-section is beyond me. I genuinely think it should be removed. But if not, that's where people suggested it should be put when it was first made. (I think)

**** Upper Spam, those who have access to it know whether it warrants anything. Just for the lols?

The reason for all the sub-sections under General, is because all those sections are where you "discuss", whether someone feels they warrant their own section, in the end all those sections define discussions.

That was my first impressions of where things should go.
However looking at it again, perhaps not.

This view is based on how much views/topics/threads have been made within each section, which I've deciphered whether they warrant their own Section. ( I would have put technology under Gen Discuss too, but it's nearing the 50k views so)

Technology, Programming, Oculus Rift can definitely be conjoined. Although there are a few people who do enjoy having these subsections the activity just doesn't warrant them being separated

 

Thoughts on this?

 

I see no problem with any of the sections, but agree that Ocolus Rift should be removed. Forum needs more members who are interested in more topics than just RuneScape.
Therefore, Richard has to get some bucks and advertise the forum (*cough* Donations *cough*).

 

I'm sure Richard still agrees with us.

 

While there isn't a large amount of activity in the media section and programming sections, I wouldn't promote the conjoining of any off-topic forums. I mean, it's not like no-one's posting in Media, and it certainly is a lot easier to navigate and find the threads that you're after with the separate sections. But it's all subsections so it's not flooding the mainpage or anything, so I don't really see a point.

Oculus Rift forums unfortunately seemed to be unsuccessful though, and I reckon that one can go.

 

This is explained very well on why it should not be changed. I'm all for removing Oculus Rift, although that would be solely up to Richard.

 

Nah I don't think this is needed, no support. Looks fine the way it is nice and organized

 

It's still a minority. I'm sure bot orientated sites would have much more reason to have a section but there simply isn't the activity for it.

Honestly, I support anything that involves the consolidation and in turn hopefully more activity. I do think Media & Programming should be sub forums of General Discussion.

Oh and I like SFA because of nostalgia, it's just always been SFA (intelligent discussion works too though I suppose).

Agree with mostly everything (the renaming of SFA is something that should have been done a long time ago but is a separate issue). One thing I'd add personally is a section for Music in media as that's the one subforum I feel actually has some level of activity. Also not sure if you left out Cryptocurrency & Finance on purpose or accidentally but I'd definitely add that in as well.

 

I'm actually down for a merge. I feel like having programming stuff in the tech section will provide it with more exposure. I'd be willing to make a sticky with some good resources so that things don't get lost. If interest increases, then we re-create the section.
