DDoSing Scammers

How does the majority of the Sythe community feel about DDoSing in the event of it being used on a scammer? Just looking for community input. Not saying I have done/will do this, just seeing viewpoints.

Do you feel they deserve it and it's a form of vigilante justice?
Or do you feel DDoSing in any circumstance is wrong?

Vengeance can be honey-sweet from time to time.. But don't DDoS you might end up in trouble yourself which you should avoid at all cost!

 

Depends on where you live, some places honestly have no laws/regulations on it.

 

It's heavily illegal in the US, so I'm assuming people use VPNs to do the booting. Sad method of dealing with people, really.

 

Not really any point to it regardless. Wow so you booted someone's Internet off for a few mins - hour or so, who fucking cares? If they're on dynamic, all they have to do is reboot their router. Even then... it really achieves nothing.

 

It's against the rules so there are no "opinions" per se.

This thread is also in bad taste; stating that you want to know but won't do it doesn't mean anything.

 

@PureAddiction, but doxxing someone and posting their ID's and selling their email is OK when you've been scammed, right?

Well actually, I think with recent circumstances, this isn't against the rules but would have staff clarify.

I understand that threatening to DDoS someone thereafter a scam isn't.

I am completely against any sort of reaction to a scam other than counter scamming to retrieve the money back.

 

DDoSing is wrong, period. No matter the context, it should not be allowed for any reason.

 

Some people get PID in duel arena, that's a pretty big deal for big stakes.

This is like asking if you can vandalize the property of a vandal. Still wrong, still illegal.

Laptops spot on. It doesn't really benefit you at all and it hardly does more than be an inconvenience to the person you're doing it to.

 

I still find it funny how people attack me off of Spam Forums.

 

that's not a personal attack. the fact of the matter is that you did something related to what's being discussed here, and people are unhappy about it, which is totally fine

 

Actually didn't know doxing and ddosing were in the same boat. I didn't even know doxing was a thing when I posted the dude's ID. Guess we all learn something new every day eh?

Ddosing is wrong regardless of the situation.

 

If you're going to partake in naughty things it's best you read Sythe.org's stance on such things before grabbing the nearest megaphone and shouting about it.

 

I feel like ddosing isn't the right thing to do, whether the person is a scammer or not. Just a very sad thing to do in my eyes

 

Everything about it is wrong, unsure what you thought you were gonna get here? Especially after your whole situation.
