Rare miniranks to promote thread creation

Yea i would honestly like a trail run before its permanent. This sounds awesome though truly! Like a vote on the mini ranks too!

I definitely like this idea a lot. I'll make sure it gets discussed a bit with staff over the next few days, and then I'll send a pm to Richard to see if it's feasible.

I knew it wasn't just me that's noticed this.

All in all it's a great idea, as a lot of people do enjoy posting, but don't really want to create discussions (I used to be quite a bit like that once.) The only obvious downside being potential spam to gain mini-ranks, but really, we have Mods for that. So yeah, support.

 

Sounds like a pretty good idea. It has the upside of creating more activity, however this could lead to a lot more spam as well.

 

this is one of the things we're discussing implementing early (?) next year but not before big forum changes occur between now and then. im all for it though.

From what I've read VB4 isn't that good, idk why we'd be updating to it

 

Basically we've been on VB3 for a long time. A few years ago, suggestions kept on getting put on hold, like they are now, because "we're thinking of updating the site so it's not worth it to make changes now". VB4 was promised, with new subforums and everything for making new graphics and posting ideas and what-not. Then, of-fucking-course, there was an announcement saying that it wasn't worth going to VB4 and we'd stay with 3. There was a whole bunch of hooplah, even a team of community members in charge of VB4 development, and it was all scrapped last minute. All those suggestions that were put on hold were forgotten about.

It was pretty disappointing. I've got a feeling this forums gonna be vB3 forever really.

^^ I don't think anyone truly cares what we're running as long as the forums are up and we aren't missing huge features that make the site hard to navigate. I'm guessing everyone was salty because the same thing that is happening to this happened to many great suggestions and then were just forgotten about.... kind of like what is happening here.

Hey Flying, this was discussed among staff and we love the idea however due to the upcoming change of forum software, this isn't something that we're going to pester Richard to add in yet.

He's working on the basics and some more important changes that we've been pushing for quite some time now. Once we move over (and I've warned Richard of this) - I'm going to bombard him with as many of your guys' suggestions as he can handle.

Till now this is a great idea but won't be added till we move over.

 

Good, so you won't mind that we keep this at the top of the suggestions forum so it won't sink to the bottom after the software "changes".

 

If this happens. I'd be pumped. Risk/Reward is at a good ratio. Plus involving new members or us more "ghostly" members isn't bad.
