Rare miniranks to promote thread creation

I suppose, but that is in a very specific group of people: those that want to gain post count quickly. They're not generally a part of the same group that would post meaningful threads for the sake of a minirank. Plus, if the minirank system were only in place for thread creation, we'd be in a good spot considering that spam threads are excessively easier to moderate and spot than spam posts.

Good idea but I agree with around 1/2000; otherwise everybody will have miniranks and they won't be very rare.

If this is something that can be done without excessive strain on the person implementing it, then it seems a great idea. I would say that a 5% chance of rarer miniranks might dilute the market, hence why a lower percentile may be more applicable in this circumstance. I'd say along the lines of 2.5%

That's a good idea. I'm always looking for new posts anyways and in order to have new posts, you'll need a thread.

 

Interesting idea, but I think people will just make up BS threads to try to win a minirank, resulting in a looooot of spam.

I like the idea, but the numbers would need to be tinkered around with. If it gets too out of hand with people spamming, then remove it. What do you think about posts in certain sections? This way there's incentive to post and not just create threads.

 

I agree. 10% seems way too high, maybe 2 or 3% would seem like a better percentage. I think posts should be given the opportunity to receive a mini-rank as well, however at a lower percentage as users are more likely to spam post than to spam thread create.

Also, reason why I'm bumping this thread is because an admin already sort of approved the idea, and was going to ask Richard. Not sure if that ever pushed through though, maybe he forgot.

Was discussed in previous pages. It's not like the current spam is not being taken care of. We have many moderators and a bunch of people reporting threads/posts, therefore this shouldn't really be a problem.

 

And if it ever does become a problem, the feature can be removed.
