Epicbot/Darkbot thread close by Ghast

I posted this thread in order to explain my experience with a DarkScape bot - DarkBot. I did it in a reasonable non-inflammatory manner with proof in the correct section (the same section DarkBot has 4 topics/10 advertising their bot). Within a few minutes the topic was closed by Ghast, whom I have a lot of negative history with. His reasons are that my post violated Sythe Rule #1, which is not true. I am convinced his actions are influenced by our history, and while I do not blame him, I ask that my topic be reopened so other users can know what to expect of EpicBot and it's community, and so that I may get clearance of sorts.

The final statement and main explanation for closing my topic by the user Ghast was that I should post all complaints about DarkBot on their site. He conveniently ignores the part where I show proof that I was banned from the site for this confrontation with one of EpicBots co-owner (Eran). I believe letting his feelings and past resentment get the best of him, Ghast not only puts other users at risk, but he also allows EpicBot to easily ignore, hide or shut down my arguments (how am I supposed to have any clout against EpicBot (assuming I am even able to get onto the site somehow) when I am arguing against the sites owner)?
I further believe that if Epicbot - or DarkBot - are allowed to post 4 topics out of 10 advertising their own greatness, I should be allowed to post 1 topic with valid complaints/reviews of the botting client.

I ask that the mods allow my topic to be reopened for the good of not only me, but also of the community.

 

PM Ghast himself to see his reasoning. Should he uphold his initial decision, you can take it to the next higher rank, which would be a global mod. PM one of them asking them to review it, and they'll handle it from there.

The first thing I did was PM Ghast and ask for the correct place to dispute his decision. He ignored me and instead sent me his reasoning. I disagree with all the parts of his reasoning and have explained myself to him.

I have no personal issue with you. If you're talking about the debate we had in the past, I have no grudges or feelings against any person I debate with. I definitely wouldn't involve myself either if I weren't able to make unbiased decisions. I wanted to explain myself before I forwarded you to another staff member who would be able to handle this.

I did explain why I assessed the situation the way I did via pm. I'll reiterate it here.

While I'll agree that the customer support rep did not handle himself professionally, you did escalate it by repeating statements he already answered, flaming him, then threatening him. I can only assume this led to your ban since EpicBot and DarkBot are integrated.

I've been viewing the thread before anyone else posted. I left it open to see where the discussion went. There was no need to drag the issue for a few reasons.

1. Eran is not DarkBot on sythe.
2. You escalated the conversation between you and Eran.
3. Sythe has no jurisdiction over your ban at DarkBot.
4. It was about a confrontation between you and the co-owner of DarkBot, not about the Bot itself.
5. The quality of the thread went downhill.

By viewing the chat with you and Eran, it's pretty clear that you created the thread to elicit a negative reaction (cause drama). As I've said before, the person who owns the account DarkBot on sythe is not Eran, and publicly stated so.

I'm completely fine with another staff member making the call on this one. I won't intervene again.

While I agree that perhaps I let myself get carried away in the Skype conversation, I believe it would be correct to say that my actions were in direct response to the actions of someone who I thought was supposed to be a professional. As you said wisely said:

Instead, when I approached Eran with a very mild question all I got in return was condescending answers and insults. I couldn't believe that a bot-developer was not only judging me for botting, but also deliberately ignoring the fact that I was a both a conscientious botter (the only one reporting bugs/posting suggestions on the thread/lending my VPS for testing) and a willing customer. I had never been disrespectful to Eran nor any staff member before this incidence.

While these rules could potentially be given as an excuse for my ban, they not only do not specify Skype, but as stated before they should apply - in an even higher degree - to customer support. I feel like someone who called 911 and got hung up on.

Why is posting honest feedback threatening? If you looked at the conversation, he thanked me multiple times for the free advertising.

I know this. I have no problem with DarkBot on Sythe, as he is just a lowly worker for Eran. He has no choice but to defend him, and I feel only sympathy for him.

I did not start this argument with Eran. He escalated it with his tone, accusations and insults, and I answered him in kind. I do not pretend I was innocent in where this conversation led to, but I do not believe I was the cause. You don't blame the forest fire on dry leaves when someone else drops a cigarette on them.

Agreed. Sythe does however have influence and interest in EpicBot as a RuneScape community.

I thought the quality was good; there was no raging, only discussion. Why are you given jurisdiction to judge on the quality of conversations? There was no raging in the thread; no anger, and no drama.

Why is everyone telling me what I'm doing today? Eran told me 3+ times that I'm a filthy goldfarmer even though I told him multiple times I'm not, and you've told me multiple times that I'm a drama queen even though I've told you multiple times I'm not. I am also fully aware that the user Dark Bot is not Eran, but he is a representative for EpicBot. I do not have a problem against the user Dark Bot, and I do not know how you came to this conclusion. This was about DarkBot the client; not Dark Bot the user.



Thank you for the detailed explanation though. I would still like another staff member to look at this, as I believe both that it is an important topic and that I should be able to post my experiences with another botting client - especially if they are allowed to post their own.

Imo it looks like Ghast is in the right here though. But that's not my call

 

These kind of threads should be allowed. It is just a review of their service. It helps people like me to know never to use their client. Thank you Radical Lime.

 

I agree with this. Reviews are reviews, good or bad; they should be allowed.

 

Would appreciate a mod to either lift (preferably) or deny my request. Thanks everyone else for your input.
