Can iPhone 4 run iOS9?

Does iPhone 4 have any problem running iOS9?

 

Personally, I'd only be running it on an iPhone 6 and above. My friend recently upgraded on her 5s, needless to say, it does run fine. Although, it has since become a little sluggish as compared to pre-update ios. I'd steer clear from updating the 4 to iOS 9.

 

Sluggish is fine. I'm only using it to test software I make. Other than loading an application from Xcode IDE onto the phone, it won't be used for anything else.

 

I don't even think iTunes will let you do it, doesn't the 4 only go up to iOS6? If you're talking about injecting it yourself then yeah the hardware will probably take it just fine but it'll be real fucking slow, like think 5-10fps slow.

 

I'm pretty certain ios6 is the latest version you can get on the Iphone 4.

 

Its an iPhone 4s my bad. I have iOS8 on my current one.

 

Still don't think you can go up to 9 on those, pretty sure the 5 is the oldest you can go

all these can be upgraded to iOs 6 according to this dutch newssite.

It'll be shit, and probably swallow your batterly life whole, but it should be possible.

 

Considering when ios 8 came out and a couple friends downloaded it on 4 and 4s, it basically slowed the phone down pretty bad, almost to the point where they don't even want to use it. Wouldn't advise it, but it might be alright for your purpose.

 

Yeah I run iOS 6 on my Touch 4, it's fuckin sluggish

 

I don't have any problems with iOS8 on my current 4S. Maybe because I waited a few months into iOS8 before upgrading.

 

I hope it turns out that you cannot, as there will be no more need to optimise for that device!

However, I think the 4s can be upgraded to the latest firmware because you get a simulator for it in xcode for the latest version.

 

Yeah it can, but it's probably going to be really slow.
