You are never guaranteed anything! Plan on saving much more than you think you have to.

Just a small update in what I'm thinking/seeing

Seems like the only guidance the market has is fucking China. It really sucks - I guess for now I'm bearish until earnings reports. I was a firm believer in China's issues just being "noise" that wouldn't affect our expanding economy but it seems when there is no other guidance for the market, China's slowdown plays a big role. The committee not raising rates from near zero levels didn't do much to help the market either. All I got out of it was a lack of confidence and that too provided negative guidance in response to China's slowdown. The right move, in my opinion, was raising rates and showing confidence in our economy (which isn't doing too badly!) and ignoring China's issues.

    My 2 cents

bearish but still longing my current positions

Oh I do, I have a weekly savings deposit too. Also, Comcast just bought 51% of Universal Resorts Japan, so their stocks will be worth more

I'd buy SVXY soon. I think we go a bit lower, but after this China bullshit is over and we have different guidance I think we'll see a much lower VIX

I'm basically split between VCN, VTI & VBK. May try my luck someday with individual stocks but right now I'm happy passively investing.

i personally view them as unnecessarily high-risk and wouldn't dabble in them. i think SS posted something about them a few months ago though - let's see what he thinks :p

**I don't know REITs very well as I've never personally traded/invested with them**

They're modeled after mutual funds - so I personally already hate them and wouldn't mess with them because I do better on my own, HOWEVER they have their pros and cons. If you know real estate well (I don't) then you are probably better positioned to invest into REITs. If I would use them, it'd only be to diversify a portfolio. Keep in mind you aren't really investing in what you want to, but what the manager of the REIT wants to do. You can do better on your own !!!!!

    Pros:
    - Shit ton of dividends paid out. I think it's regulated to like 90%+ of the REIT's income to be paid as dividends.
    - You aren't buying just one thing. You're buying a piece of a lot of things (mutual funds idea)

    Cons:
    - Because they have to pay so much into dividends, they take under a lot of debt
    - Not only are you subject to market value falling/rising, but you are also subject to real estate issues like vacancies, property value falling,
    - INTEREST RATES GOING UP = BAD BAD BAD
    - Taxes are a cunt

Basically, I wouldn't solely invest into REITs but I would use them to balance out an aggressive portfolio

Again, this is just my 2 cents and I'm not particularly experienced in this field

If you invested in these on October 1st when you made the post, would have been a very nice investment, all 3 have risen.

Started buying BTC mid-september when it was around 230-235$ or so. Wasn't looking to make a profit on it, but more to use it as a safe currency to buy and sell with. It's now around 244$ as of the time of this post, so I guess it was a smart time to purchase it. Looking at a chart, it'll likely go back down, but it's fun to see it has gone up a bit haha. Any thoughts?

    BTC is trash

S&P500 broke resistance at 2000. Looking for 2040 break next. I think we finally broke out. SVXY up about another 5% today

Just went back down to 2000 and bounced right back up. Watching the 1M very carefully today. The bounce back up at 2000 reassures me of the 2000 level. Looks like we're in the clear. I'm staying long

haha, good luck. i very, very nearly went log INCY around new year's last year. went ACT (which became AGN) and ALXN instead. AGN i'm still +6% on, ALXN i'm down 15%. glad I didn't go for BIIB though (would have been down like 20%).

I've been trading a lot of PLUG and GE recently. Will be stocking up on both pre-earnings. GE has been selling off a lot of its portfolios and such in order to free up spending cash for further expansion globally. After purchasing a European company, they began rapid expansion. GE earnings are mid-October. PLUG has recently gotten a great deal with Home Depot and Kroger to replace production factories with PLUG's new hydrogen cell equipment. Many companies are choosing these because they are more cost-efficient in the long run and reliable overall. After reporting great numbers previous to the Home Depot deal and a turnover rate of 3-5 complete plant replacements per quarter, I expect another huge increase after mid-November earnings.

Keep in mind my in-depth and accurate day-to-day predictions about PLUG before their Q2 release.

In real life, I intend to invest in the real state. I think it has a highest rate of return especially if you have enough money to buy in downtown areas where you can rent the place out.

In gaming, I intend to sell my RS3 gold and use it real life investments specified above.

    What about you OP?
