The big phone dilemma - need advice

Hey guys. My phone situation has been fucked up to say the least over the last few weeks.

Basically, right now I'm using a messed up iPhone 5S. The thing has liquid damage so the system clock doesn't work (stays frozen), bluetooth doesn't work, and the rear camera doesn't work. Regular things like web browsing, texting, and phoning all seem to work fine. I got it for free so no complaints. Battery life is sort as shit too, lasts me maybe 8 hours with infrequent use. Already spent $84 CAD unlocking it.

My old Nexus 4 that I used up until a month ago is in for repair right now (inflated battery). Only using the iPhone while that's being done.

Eventually I want to buy the new Nexus 5x 32GB, for roughly $550 CAD, but that's a lot of money that I don't necessarily have right now.

So, my question is: What should I do? I can either:
    1. Sell the repaired Nexus 4 for ~$150, spend $400 replacing the 5S with Apple and not buy the new Nexus 5X, but I'll be sacrificing 16GB of space that I sorta want
    2. Sell the repaired Nexus 4 for ~$150, use the iPhone in the meantime, buy Nexus 5X after I get the $150
    3. Wait until I get Nexus 4 back from repair and just use that until it dies forever, buy whichever phone is going for about $500 whenever that happens

Sorta torn. Also let it be known I prefer Android over iOS.

I'd go forst option 3, best way as your Nexus might available for use for another couple of months meaning you'll save money.

How long does a battery repair take that you spend another 85$ on unlocking an iphone lol? Just keep the old nexus. the planet can't handle much more ewaste

#1 imo. 16GB is plenty of space. With a 12GB iphone, I am able to store all of the songs I actually kind of listen to, a ton of pictures, plus quite a few apps that I regularly use. If you're willing to get rid of excess apps, pictures, and songs that you don't use anyways, then that is definitely the way to go.

#3 just play it safe for now, no need to invest lots at the moment when your going to get it back in working order.

I have an old warranty on the Nexus 4 that isn't offered anymore, so it gets sent from one warehouse to another. Last time it went in for repair I didn't get it back for a month and a week. Can't go without a phone for that long.

When you're a music fiend like me, you like to carry your music library around with you. I have 1GB of free space left on this broken 5S I'm using right now, and that's because I'm being conservative.

Hey! I just preordered the Nexus 5x and signed up for Project Fi.

You're able to finance your Google phone with no interest (just ~$17/month for 24 months so normal phone price). No contract either so can just pay off your phone when you have the cash and switch to a different carrier if you'd want. Project Fi works great if you're not in the rockie mountains and is significantly cheaper than any other carrier. Have you considered that?

Wow some crappy phones. I'd say sell all phones and get a new one, but of the listed options 3 would be good
