is it safe to send picture of driver's license?

So basically, on one of my threads, i'm selling RS3 accounts and the buyer of one of the accounts wants as a precaution that i send him a picture of my driver's license.

When he asked me i said yes as i didn't see any problem with that, (the trade still hasn't taken place)

But the more i think about it the more i feel like it could be potentially dangerous to my personal being.

ANy thought on the danger of someone having the information on your driver's license?

If dangerous, do you have any idea of other information I could give to the buyer to offer more "security" on the trade?

 

It is a common procedure for people taking Paypal or other reversible payment options to have a driver's license or other photo ID presented in case of chargebacks - when dealing with new/not as trustworthy users for the most part. Generally, upon presentation of the ID card emailed from the Paypal linked email address; this circumvents any unauthorised access chargeback claims and therefore provides a sort of insurance to the seller.

You could blur out the other information on the card besides your name, state/country, picture and possibly D.o.B if required by the individual to make sure the card picture isn't as completely usable for sketchy means or so on. But of course, if you feel uncomfortable then it's worth looking in to payment methods where this wouldn't be necessary; notably Bitcoin, for example.
